@shiremag Do they ask for this for all the applicants? I don't remember seeing this one in my test invite. Can everyone choose this?

Hi All, I have been scheduled to attend the Citizenship ceremony on May 31 on the profile and still waiting to receive the email. However, I have a work trip scheduled from June 3 - June 17. I have the following options now.
- Request to postpone the ceremony to a date after June 17
- Attend the ceremony and inform that I have a work trip until June 17
I am looking for your expert advice on this.

@forw.jane is correct! It's e-certificate is a pilot for people who applied before Jan 4, 2023. Random applicants are selected if you applied before this date. After Jan 4, 2023, you can make your choice in the application itself. Although, I don't see why they couldn't have made e-certificate default for everyone. It's fast and secure to download rather than waiting for Canada Post to deliver it

Selected few get this option. Those not selected get the paper one.

Generally IRCC is very unpredictable with re-scheduling. If you re-schedule, there is no guarantee that you will get the first available slot once you are back from your work trip and it could take months. You may also get lucky...

It's usually recommended to NOT re-schedule unless you absolutely have to. If yours is a virtual ceremony, it may take a couple of weeks to receive your certificate... Expediting the certificate may be difficult in a 2 day time frame. If your work trip is unavoidable, try asking for a re-schedule and see how it plays out... There's not much you can do other than that.

Hi Thanks for your reply. I will check my alternative options to NOT to reschedule the Ceremony.

If at the ceremony during the check-in/registration, you declare that you have imminent travel in a couple of days that you are unable to cancel, they my ask you to reschedule and not proceed with oath. It's up to the officer...

If there is enough time between your trip and certificate delivery, they my expedite the certificate or refuse - again totally up to the officer
