It has been 10 days since my PR Card application was approved and the card was mailed on Apr 20. Is there anyone who has the same timeline, waiting for the card since Apr 20?

I got the initial PR portal request mail today, and I'm planning to go on vacation abroad next week, for a week.

I saw this paragraph on a canada.ca page:
"Declaring you’re in Canada does not mean you are a permanent resident. We will send you a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (CoPR) document. Your CoPR confirms your status.
We can’t confirm your permanent resident status while you’re outside Canada. If you plan to travel before receiving your CoPR, contact us using the email address on your invitation message."

Will there be an issue if I travel abroad next week? I'm currently a temporary worker and my work visa is valid.

Your previous visas will be voided once you receive the ecoPR. You will only be able to return with your PR card after ecoPR is issued.

If you don't want to make any changes to your planned vacation you would want not to have the ecoPR to be issued until you return. There are options for you to explore: 1. respond to this email after you are back 2. Respond now and mention you are out and will return on X date.

I heard that option 2 could cause some delays, so as far as I remember option 1 is a better choice, especially if it's just a 2-week timeframe as in your case. As far as I'm concerned they will not issue the ecoPR until you respond to the Portal email and a 2-week delay to respond is not a problem.

Thank you
I'm seeing people here report waiting for quite some time to receive their cards after eCOPR. Am I really trapped in Canada if this takes long? Can't I enter as a tourist, at least?

You can't use your tourist visa (or Temp WP) after the ecoPR is issued, you are not a tourist and not a temporary worker anymore. You are a permanent resident, so only a PR card (or PTRD doc which is painful to get) could be used to enter Canada.

Yes, it might take a long time - I'm waiting for more than 2 months already, and I'm really stressed as I need to go back to my home country asap and I have no idea how much longer will it take. But some people are lucky - sometimes it takes just 3 weeks to get the card.

You are in a good position - just don't respond, enjoy your vacation, and be ready to wait for 1-4 months after you are back. Maybe you will be the lucky one and will receive it in 3 weeks :)

Received my PR card on the 28th of March! Details in my signature. Good luck to all and best of luck for your life in Canada. This stuff is not for the weak-hearted.

I received an email which stated "Ready for Visa". My dependents were back in India when I submitted the application and they moved here a few months back. But, while responding to the portal mail, I stated that they were in Canada and I uploaded their photo and address in the confirmation portal. What should I do here?

You might be in for a long wait. They have to switch your dependents to virtual landing which takes a while.

Thanks for the quick response. But, I see that the address and photo is in review for my dependents in the pr confirmation portal. So that doesn't mean anything?

In that case, I'm not sure. Ill leave it up to someone who knows better to respond to this one.

That's totally fine. Same thing as me, I'm inland and my spouse is outland. She came here on visitor visa and then we both got Portal Email (note that, we did not get a separate Ready For Visa for my spouse) while she's inside. Then I confirmed the in-Canada address for both of us and submitted photos as well. After about 2 days, the address were approved and both of us were issued eCOPR.

Photos are still in review though, probably they're still processing the PR Card.
