Indian Passport Renewal from BLS Toronto

Your previous passport issued out of India? your timelines please? Any Idea do we get PV or not as we are PR and for PR processing PV done.

My previous passport was issued from India. I have understood that if PV is required, we will receive an intimation on email which I have not received even after so many days of submission. This means, no PV is required in my case. My timelines are as follows
Application submitted at BLS Brampton: 21st Jan
Status Changed to Application and fees received at Consulate-23rd Jan
status changed to Passport application is being reviewed by embassy/consulate-1st Feb

No update after this. No email received for police verification.

Thanks again for your reply. For my dependents they received PV email after 25 days ( incl holidays) after reviewing started in CGI. In India their PV happened, later they new got passports. Their previous passports issued in India.

For me, my previous passport issued in New York. Now almost 27 days happened in CGI with same status of review.
Still we may or may not get PV. Please don’t assume we will not get PV email. It’s depends. Thanks

I got my new passport back within a month. Applied at Toronto BLS.

Why do they staple new passport with the old one? I can't seem to understand the logic.. what to do with the old passport?

Keep it safe. Also if you have any US Valid VISA (or any other country VISA) duration more than your previous passport expiry date then you need to carry both passports while traveling.

Thanks. I have raised a query with CGI Toronto on the following link. This is not acceptable. Either PV should have been initiated or if PV is not required, application should have moved to the next step.

I think if your new passport address is same as previous passport then there will be no PV but if it differs then they have to. But there can be other reasons too. I have seen people with same addresses don’t have PV.

For me it’s a different address. Previous passport had USA address and now in Canada. But it’s almost a month happening after review started and no updates yet if PV will happen or not. Is it usual?

Maybe you can scroll back to posts which have posted timeline with address change and PV. You can get some idea how many days it takes on average to move from "Granting Initiated" to further.

I have submitted the application for my passport renewal at BLS Toronto (Walk-In Appointment) on January 23, 2023. Here is my timeline so far,

Received at Consulate and Processing: January 24, 2023
Status Message updated to "under review at Indian Embassy/Consulate": February 2, 2023
Status Map updated to "Submitted": February 2, 2023
Status Map updated to "Granting Initiated": February 2, 2023

Till now no further updates regarding PV or Printing, anyone else stuck at the same status?
