Information regarding work permit

I applied for my work permit on 23rd December and got the confirmation email however I haven't received my applied status yet. I tried calling IRCC and they said they don't have any representative at the moment to talk to. Does anyone have any idea why it is taking so long and does it normally take this long? Some people applied after me and got the applied status. Asking because I can't work unless I have work permit.

You only applied last week and the majority of the days were holidays. How did you qualify for a work permit and what type of WP have you applied for?

I completed my study in December and have applied for initial work permit within Canada.

Were you a full-time student who graduated from a program that qualifies for PGWP? When did/does your study permit expire? If so it takes many months to get approved for PGWP. If you had a valid study permit when you graduated and applied for PGWP you can work until you get PGWP approval.

Yeah I graduated from a course with that qualifies for PGWP and my study permit expires in mid March. I just haven't gotten applied status so even without it can I work ? Unless and until I get my applied status can I still work?

Yes you can work until you get approved for your PGWP.
