Doesn't matter if I'm right or wrong. At the end of the day your file, my file, anyone else's file could be sitting with or be transferred to an incompetent officer and it's out of your hands. Today I learned of someone whose application was rejected for an expired nomination certificate. This person had received their AOR months ago. Wow.

Earlier this week I dealt with another bureaucratic beast, the CRA, who threatened to fine me effectively a month's salary for failing to tell them about my home and stocks overseas. At no point did the CRA or my accountant ever tell me that I needed to tell them about this stuff. I'm a victim of others' incompetence. Life is balls atm.

oof on the tax thing- that's 100% something the accountant should have been asking you about.

Now you scared me. My nomination was issued in 2022/Oct/13 and it will expire in 2023/Jul/13.

AR: 2022/Oct/26
it shouldn't be an issue- the nomination certificate expiration is meant to be the date at which you have to applied for PR for it to be valid. The case mentioned earlier looks like a situation where a newly hired IRCC officer has a misunderstanding of the rules (which in itself is extremely worrying).

I know that they were on a hiring spree for IRCC to try and speed up the processing of cases- but you have to hope they haven't skimped on training.

But how would they know about your home and stocks overseas though?

Did they tell you why they need your Travel History form again, was there an error when you submitted it the first time?
Also did they ask for PCC because you didn't provide it initially?

1) Timelines are completely up to the agent processing your application so it can't be predicted.
2) They can request bank statements, paystubs, etc. if they want to so have them handy.

They gave no reason for requesting for the Travel History again. I provided the PCC at the initial stage of PR application (Dec 21, 2021).

When you become a Canadian resident for tax purposes, you're meant to declare all your worldwide income. They probably have ways of checking too if they really wanted to (unlikely, but you never want to be audited by the tax man, it's just not a good position to be in). I prefer being honest and coming clean - even if blows back on me sometimes.

Hi guys,
Here is my update:
AR: Sep 09
AOR: Nov 29

I applied when I was still waiting for my PGWP approval. I received my PGWP on Sep 21st. Yesterday, I was reading on this forum and it occurs to me that I never update IRCC with my PGWP. I used the web form to update my PGWP and today I got my AOR. I guess I should have done it 2 months ago.

I can 100% guarantee you it was a complete coincidence. There is no way in the world that they would be looking at a webform sent today for at least 4-6 weeks.

I do think so, but it seems to be a sweet coincidence because I was expecting not to receive my AOR this year. and it seems like things are moving along pretty well after AOR for the most.

IRCC would already have a record of your PGWP so there would be no need to update them. On the other hand, if you want to update the province that gave you the nomination you can. Give them a call and ask them if it's required or not.

Hello Everyone,

I have applied for pnp on January 17 and at that time i was on PGWP and i have no employer restrictions on my nomination but my pgwp expired in June and i applied for closed workpermit lmia exempt through pnp and it got approved last week. I am also eligible under new pgwp policy and i have AOR, my medical is passed and i received Pre arrival Letter.

I drive part-time with doordash on weekends to coverup some of my expenses and i got to know i cannot work for uber eats or doordash while on closed Workpermit.
Now i am wondering can i apply for open workpermit permit using my AOR or Should i apply for PGWP under policy because i have the work authorization Letter for pgwp as well.

I need to work part-time or else meeting my expenses would be really hard.

I am not sure when my PR will get approved because i Got PAL letter on August 25 and i am still waiting.

Something that came to mind after the previous posts are about refusals. We are all experiencing and have heard of delays in processing PR applications, but ultimately, they get approved. It is very rare for us to hear of refusals; of course, this is a good thing. However, as @moscatojuices pointed out, there are refusals
Nope he submitted in Dec 2021 and got AOR 2 months ago. In the refusal letter, it stated that the PNC is invalid and expired in May 2022.

The only thing the applicant did from the start of his application till the date of refusal is get married, and he told IRCC about it. I wonder if the incompetent officer somehow misconstrued the expired PNC with the spouse not being listed on the certificate????

Now I'm freaking out because I received PAL and MP, and my marital status update was confirmed via a webform response and noted on my file lats week. I'm common-law with a Canadian. I hope the immigration officer understand that my wife doesn't need to apply for PR because she's FUCKING CANADIAN.

If I get refused, I'm just going to leave Canada. So tired of all this bullshit and seeing horror stories like this, and now I'm on the hook for big tax penalties for stuff I didn't know about.
I hear you. Hope all goes well for all of us. None of us are out of the woods until we are out of the woods.
