Hi:

I got a request for a copy of all passports held during eligibility period, but I'm not sure if in my case it would make sense to only send one passport instead of the two that I had. Here's why; only one of them was valid during my time in Canada. Here's the timeline to explain:
  • 2017-July: Eligibility period start
  • 2018-Nov: Passport 1 is expires -cancelled due to renewal- and passport 2 is issued
  • 2019-Apr: Presence in Canada begins (no days before this are included in the presence calculation)
  • 2022-July: Eligibility period end
Based on my judgement, it appears that only passport 2 is relevant here. That was the only one valid during my presence. Should I send both or just one? I'm trying to avoid additional translation costs of sending a passport that was not even related to my presence.

Thoughts?

No ifs and buts, you should submit both as they fall within the eligibility period, if you want to avoid any trouble.

It's IRCC's job to access whether something is going to be useful for them or not, yours is simply to follow the request, and the request to also provide the older passport is very clear.

Hi

How long after you sent them the passport did you hear back from them?
or how long did it take for the application to be updated?
