31 years old, got PhD in 2021, recently got a postdoc offer (probably 1-2 years) in Polytechnique Montréal. I was wondering what's the fastest suitable program for me to apply in this situation. My CRS score without job offer (express entry) are around 460. Any guideline or info is appreciated. Thanks :)

First stage: With postdoc job offer you can enter in Canada with temporary work permit.
Because your employer is based in Quebec, this job offer shall not be of any help at this stage for your express entry application.

Second stage Option 1:

After you have completed 1 year as postdoc in Quebec, then you have following option.

- Submit your application through Express Entery under Canadian Experienced Class with the intention that you will leave Quebec after your PR application is approved. You will need to quite Quebec and your postdoc job during the second year if your application is processed fast and approved before your have completed the second year of postdoc.

Second stage Option 2
After you have completed 2 years as postdoc in Quebec, then besides the express entry as above, you will also be eligible to apply for PR in Quebec. However, besides the 2 year work experience, Quebec immigration requires both the main applicant and his/her spouse to be fluent in French language (its very tough if you are a non-french speaker).

Therefore if you are good in French, then you do not need to worry about anything. You can plan of living in Quebec permanently.

Thank you very much for the detailed response. Seeing your answer, I feel like I did not know a lot.

1) First stage: it seems the job is not much of a help as it does not accelerate my emigration process. Besides, salary is quite low, like 50-60 CAD.
2) Second stage: option 1: This might be an advantage , but have to work at low salary for two years.
3) Second stage: option 2: I think I can very well be qualified for Express Entry even if I am working outside canada. Outside canada, I can earn more; inside canada, it help understand what is it to live in Canada permanantly --- is it worth it or not. I have seen a lot negative comments as well.

I appreciate your response. I did not know clearly about the French requirements there in Quebec. I am good at language learning, but yes, I understant to achieve B2, one would need at least 2-3 yaers to pass with low scores while still not being able to hold in depth conversations. Again, I am thinking if this is worth or not.

Canada is a very nice country to settle and live here permanently. There is large number of professional/well experienced/high designation/highly educated people who have applied through express entry and are waiting to make entry to Canada.

Getting a job in canada is one of the greatest dream for many and you have it in your hand now. Therefore, there is nothing to worry about PR at this stage You just need 1 year work experience in Canada (working in Quebec is also accepted) to be eligible to apply through canadian experinced class regardless of amount of the salary. All the applicants who applied through canadian experinced class normally get approved.

Just apply for your closed work permit and arrive here as soon you get it approved.
