If you were a resident of the US, only then would be asked to submit your passport to Ottawa. If you do so, you will receive a COPR, and you will have to land at a border crossing to complete the landing formalities.

If you send a web form, IRCC can issue you an e-COPR, with which you will not have to do any landing as the COPR will have a date and signature of an officer effective which you will be a PR. Sending a web form will take a few weeks for a response and a few more weeks for the confirmation of PR email to arrive.

The choice is yours. If you will not be in Canada for the next few months, the first option would be better.
Thank you so much for your reply, I really appreciate it @legalfalcon

Hi @legalfalcon I have just received my GCMS: and see here the review of the case analyst even after sending updated proof of funds.

REVIEW REQUIRED FOR PROOF OF FUNDS REGARDING PIGGYTECH GLOBAL LTD NOT SURE IF CLIENT CAN ACCESS THE FUNDS

SETTLETMENT FUNDS: REVIEW REQUIRED Approx $18582 - CAD $18582 as per piggyTech Global Ltd Settlement at 2020-10-05. Family of 2 requires CAD $16135.

It seems to me that the money we showed exceeded the minimum funds required. Please I need your candid advice. @legalfalcon

Thank you.

Hi @legalfalcon

We got remedical request IMM 1017e form few weeks back. We completed our re-medical and the medical staff returned us the IMM 1017e form with stamp and signature and asked us to send it to IRCC, so that IRCC is aware that we completed the remedicals. I know the panel physician will send the report to IRCC, but since the deadline is nearer, do I need to inform them that I completed my medicals? Because the medical staff said it will take 10-15 days for them to send the report. 20 days already completed since I got the medical request, i have now only 10 days left for the hospital to send my reports. Please advise.

You will have to wait and see what is the validity date of the PR visa and the COPR.

Your friend will have to enter Canada on or before the expiry of how PR visa.

Thank you.

The RR in itself only means that the reviewing analyst or assistant has marked this for further review by the officer who has carriage of your file. This usually happens when your funds are in a foreign currency.

Here is my old post on RR:

Understanding “Review Required”

A lot of applicants see “review required” in their GCMS notes for eligibility. There are many theories floating around with regard to what “review required” means and if it is alarming.

Before I venture into explaining the significance, it is important to understand that each application goes through the following stages as per the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and the regulations (Canadian Immigration Law):

R10 – Completeness Check
Criminality
Medicals
A11.2 – eligibility
Security

Out of the above, the most important stage is eligibility. This is also the most time-consuming stage because your documents have to be verified, evaluated and assessed to ascertain that you meet the eligibility criteria for the program you have applied to (FSW / CEC / FTW). To streamline this process and make it easier for an immigration officer (decision-making authority), all applications are first evaluated by case analysts or program assistants. They review the documents and summarize it in the GCMS. If they have any concerns with any document or want the immigration officer to carefully look into a specific document, they will flag it as “review required.” It is the content of the note that is important here. If the review required is for a specific document, while the summary of the note says that an applicant has met the eligibility, or is “ready to finalize” it simply means that while the applicant has met the eligibility criteria, the specific document needs a careful examination form the officer before promoting (eligibility pass) by the officer.

However, if there are concerns, there will be a review required for the eligibility, and there will be no text to the effect of “ready to finalize” or pass. The note will specifically state job duties do not match, the employee cannot be verified, or the number of years of work experience claimed cannot be verified. This is where an application can land in muddy waters. But the final decision rests on the immigration officer. He may override the decision of the analyst/assistant or go with the analysis of the analyst/assistant.

Even in cases where the analyst/assistant is of the opinion that the applicant has met the eligibility, and there is no “review required,” the officer can replace it with his own opinion. Though rare, it does happen. This is why the eligibility is only passed when an officer conclusively marks the eligibility as passed.

Finally, there is a “review required” for PoF. This is the most common in many applications. This is because the financial and banking practices of each country are different. Eg. Fixed deposits are known as Certificate of Deposit (CD) in the US. Similarly, treasury bonds, mutual funds, stocks, and many other investment vehicles are there. If your PoF is anything other than a bank deposit, it is more likely that it will be marked as “review required.” Also, IRCC does not go by day-to-day fluctuations in FOREX. Instead, the Canadian federal government issued a quarterly conversion rate for all FOREX vis-a-via CAD. If your PoF is in a foreign currency, then you may have a “review required” for the officer to make a determination.

Just because you have “review required” does not mean that you hit the panic mode. Instead, read the context in which it is there. If there is a concern regarding a document, you can send a replacement document via CSE. The most common reasons for RR are:

1. Work reference letter without job duties
2. Work reference letters missing all the details requested by IRCC
3. If you submitted a letter from a colleague because you were unable to get one from your employer, but did not have a LoE on file, this too will lead to RR.
4. Not sufficient work experience in the primary NOC.
5. Inability to verify your employment as your employer details are missing.

These are just some of the scenarios.

Just send the copy you received via webform. All you have to do is meet the 30 days time frame to get your meds done, not that the meds have to be transmitted within that time.

Usually, you do not even have to send the counterfoil as the meds are sent directly to IRCC, but just do it to be on the safer side send the stamped copy you received.

Hello @legalfalcon
Please My recent note came with Review Required for eligibility based on “PA resides in the UK, File referred to support supervisor for possible transfer to appropriate mission”

Do you understand this?
Do they intend to transfer my application to London Vo? I’m currently at RROC, submitted ADR for schedule A and POI.

will it be only London VO? Or any other VO they intend to transfer to?

You should have along with you the following documents:

1. Passport with the Canadian Visa
2. COPR (2 copies - one with a pic)
3. 2 additional pics
4. A copy of the proof of funds, if you submitted one in support of your EE application.

When you land at Toronto, you will be asked to go to the immigration when you will tell the officer that you are landing as a permanent Resident. They will send to another area where you will find a few others who are landing as PRs. The line will depend on how many flights have landed. It does not usually take long. If you are landing as a family, all of you can be togeather as a group.

When your turn comes you will be called by an immigration officer who will check your passport, stamp it, enter your record in the system, stamp the COPR and ask you to sign it in front of him. He will keep one copy of the COPR and give the other to you. Most immigration officers neatly fold it and staple it in the passport next to where you have your visa. During this time, he will also ask you questions about your health, how many dependents you have, and if you have been convicted of any crime. He might ask you for the address where you are living, if you have one, give it to him so that it can be added into the system. This is where your PR card will be shipped. If you do not have an address, you can tell him and then you will have to update it once you have it online through MyCIC. Make sure you update your address within 180 days of landing as a PR.

From here you will be sent to the customs where you will collect your baggage and meet a customs officer who will ask you about your lugauge. If you are carrying over $ 10K in cash you will need to declare it and also declare any jewellery you are bringing in along with food. Read the card carefully and when in doubt answer yes.

Since you are entering Canada you can bring goods of personal effect duty-free. Make sure if you are carrying anything on which duty can be imposed, you will need to fill BSF 186A (2 copies) http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/bsf186a-eng.html

If you need more space make copies of the form. If you have goods coming later, make copies of the form and keep it ready (2 copies).

Just be calm and the officers there are very friendly.

For further information read: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomers/after-checklist.asp

Once you are done with the customs and immigration there is a counter at the airport to apply for the Social Insurance Number. So make sure you apply there, which will depend on at what time your flight lands. If it's midnight, the Canada Service Centre (the agency that deals with the SIN) will be closed and you will have to go to the one closest to where you live. Their addresses are available online. If they are open, just do it there. It only takes a few minutes.

At the Pearson airport you will also see a lot of banking kiosks and you can even get an account opened, if you know which bank you would chose and have made up your mind.

It's a simple process and during this time you will be handed over a lot of written material explaining things to you. You will hear welcome to Canada a lot of times.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Hope this helps!

I have a query with regards to declaring gold jewellery

My husband and i are currently moving to Canada on study permit and open work permit, respectively.

We will be declaring at customs, jewellery that i am carrying with me. However, this would be only a small part of my possessions.

We have a FSW Express entry application which is parallel in progress and with the latest progress on my application, i believe it could get approved within this year.

I wish to know as a FSW inland candidate, how would i declare Gold jewellery that i would potentially be bringing with me in the future.

I do not work for the said website. Read the reviews and do your due diligence before you engage the services of a website.

The COPR and passport submission only happens at the LVO, i.e. the country you reside in.

Further, an application can be transferred to any VO across the globe. See https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/operational-bulletins-manuals/service-delivery/file-transfer.html

If you only have jewellery of personal use, you do not have to declare it unless you bring it into Canada to be resold or re-exported. If you have a commercial quantity or a huge quantity, you will be exempt from duties on it only when you are a new settler, i.e. a PR entering Canada, and not as a temporary visitor.
