According to this article CEC was planned to resume this spring.

Spring is usually deemed as March, April, May.
In that article as well

"There are 10,400 CEC persons left to be processed, as of March 15. In 42 days, IRCC was able to process 4,751 CEC applicants. At this rate, IRCC could reduce the current backlog this spring."
There are 10,400 CEC person remaining in the backlog, if they can keep up this speed then they will reduce the backlog by 50% by May 4th.

I am wondering if any of you are optimistic about CEC reopening? I will have 1 year of work experience in May 15th this year and CRS of 474, wondering if its best to wait out for CEC or OINP international student stream which is at least 2-3 years of processing.
Is there any hope for us?

Thank you all

Sorry, it’s not easy to say, but: No new draws of CEC and FSW unless all backlogs have been cleared out!!!!!!
You have no idea how about the pain, anxiety, desperation, readiness to commit suicide after killing my whole family who came to this country suffering from those bureaucrats and those who delayed my case. Any longer waiting time is increasing the chance I lose my mind eventually.
I know you are in pain and uncertainty as well, but, please remember many CEC and FSW applications have been waiting for 6, 12, 18, 24 and even more months after receiving AOR.
I am ready to do the unspoken anytime because of this never stopping waiting.

So, PLEASE, don’t resume new draws!!!!!!!

No one knows. Don't count on it restarting. Look for other paths.

The only other path I see is OINP.
I'm applying to OINP as well but processing is slow (24+ months).
My hope was that CEC will open up and then I'll cancel OINP and go with CEC.
I've got a couple other friends who are in the same boat, all of us who graduated in spring 2021.

FSW is outland applicants I thought.
And which CEC applicants have been waiting 24 months?

There were signs pointing to new draws in spring this year and then smaller subsequent rounds but no certainty.
There are many students in a limbo after ~Sept 2022 because that will be 1 year since CEC draw so I can't imagine they won't do at least something about it.

Don’t assume you know everything, mate. And never ever trust the number or forecast that mentioned on CICnews. Never came true even once.

Unfortunately, I know two CEC applicants who got AOR in Apr 2020 and Aug 2020, they both are in land and are still waiting.

Three people I knew were 456 - 462 FSW (in land) since 2020 fall, and not invited until becoming CEC after one year working.

So, do you understand now? NO draws needed and clearing out CEC and FSW backlogs should be the number one priority.

Why are you mixing CEC and FSW? They are different streams.
I could understand clearing out CEC but pausing CEC until FSW doesn't make sense to me. That is like saying pause CEC until PNP backlog is cleared out.
I don't know about the case of your friends or if their applications slipped through the cracks, anyone i know who applied before March 2021 through CEC has a PR now.

There's always hope that they'll start again sometime later in the year although the scores will probably be a lot higher than last time

FSW and CEC are different streams but are part of the same program (Express Entry). Historically, most draws have been general - meaning they included both FSW and CEC applicants, with those with the highest scores being selected. The CEC specific draws were more of a recent thing during COVID. There's no guarantee IRCC will hold CEC specific draws again. It's possible they might return to general draws only where FSW and CEC applicants will effectively compete against each other to be selected based on who has the highest CRS.

What i was saying was many people have been waiting for so long that even were changed from FSW to CEC...Like scylla replied to you, FSW and CEC are basically the same, only due to pandemic, they were invited separately...
Comparing to people in the pool but not invited and CEC/FSW being delayed for months/years, it is clearly they should address backlogs first before inviting more people instead of stacking up more and more backlogs...
So, I am sorry, no new draws until backlogs are cleared out...
If I were you, I'd think about other plans rather than fantasying that they will resume CEC draws...
Plus, 474 points would be 0% to get invited even though if they were too insane to draw more people...

Come on, please don't lie to yourself and give others illusions...
They won't resume draws until backlogs being addressed...
But you are correct, the point will be more than 500 for sure...
His or her 474 has no chance...
Sorry, but it is cruel but true...
It's not I am cold blood bitch, it is because I have been tortured for so long (2 more years) that I couldn't see anybody falling into the same trap that this country set up...
If I got a chance to go back in 2020, I won't come to this country whatsoever...

I've been in Canada since 2015, as a student as well.
What was your CRS score to get invited?
2021 was the golden opportunity, anyone who even did a 1 year college diploma could have gotten a PR easily but even Canadian degree holders are struggling now.

If I were you, I'd think about other plans rather than fantasying that they will resume CEC draws...
I can get PNP as well but that option is slower, exploring both right now.

Yes, there is definitely no guarantee they will hold CEC specific draws just like there is no guarantee they will hold combined draws just like there is no guarantee they will hold any draws really.

It's all speculation right now, the MP did say they were planning to hold some express entry draw in the spring from a memo 2 weeks ago, the question is just when and what will it look like.

Wait so how is saying there's always hope they'll start again this year giving people illusions?
There's still 8 and a half months left of 2022 afterall and I highly doubt they'll wait until the entire backlog is cleared before starting draws again especially if they want to keep to next years targets.

Draws will be probably be a lot later in the year with higher scores but I can definitely see them happening.

Yes, PNP might be quicker than CEC. Try other options instead of hanging there for only one choice.
I was more than 500. Score is not important at all. 75 points can still be invited.
