Work permit extension (need Help)

Hi,

I resigned from an employer on march first and got a offer from another employer. But the lmo is refused
Now my work permit expires on April 10. So I called cic they told me to apply for work permit extension.

I have applied for work permit extension on 5 april. They said its implied status you have 90 days to apply for work permit for a new employer.

I want to know when that 90 days starts. Some people says it starts from resignation date. So its already 60 days gone is that right.

Some one please explain?

90 days starts to count from the expiry date of your current Work Permit. So it is actually April 10, you start counting. Once you submit your application to CIC, you just wait for their response. If you applied after April 10, you need submit an application for restoration of status. If you apply after 90 days since April 10, your application will not be valid from within Canada. You need exit and re-apply from outside of Canada.
