Work permit across us boarder

I would love some advice if anyones know the answer.

I am waiting for my employee to add my name to the lmo it has been 4 weeks and were still waiting. The problem is i have a one way ticket booked for next week.

I was wondering if anyone knows if it would be a safe option once one my lmo has arrived and if i am already in canada to drive accross the us boarder and enter at a different point and get my work permit there.
I am from the UK so can apply at port of enter.

Anything can happen at the border. If you have a visitor record valid, you have a better chance.
Call CBSA service and ask what docuements you need bring with you and get all docs before you go. Also make sure you ask which CBSA port you should go and ask for a contact person if possible.
