Wife travel visa renewal pre PR approval

My wife is preparing her travel visa renewal.

Now is Jan 31. Her visa expire March 15. She wants to extend it 6 months more.

On the renewal today should we put from todays date until September 1 or March 14 till sept 1st?

If you are going to extend it, extend it by 1 year. So if last day of 6 month stay is march 15, 2014, list march 14, 2015 as last day of extension. That is what I did with my wife's extension.

When we entered Canada from US, the border agent told me to apply for 1 year extension on visitor visa when you submit extension.
