there will be no delay because of pregnancy, but if the baby is born before you land in Canada, you'll need to process the baby's PR separately later as a dependent to yours.

oh yes!

your wife will not be able to undergo medicals becasue of pregnancy. CIC usually holds the application till the baby is born for such cases. but again, it's onthe officer's discretion.

pls let seniors reply

aanban is correct according to my information too. Case will be pending till the birth of new baby and you also have to upgrade his/her status (Birth Certificate).

thnx for the replies guyz. It means I don't have to wait for the birth of the baby and I can start process right away untill the medical is asked.

Hi All,

I have similar situation as my wife is pregnant and on Sept 26th I received an response from CIC for the medical which they will send me the guidelines in few weeks time.

Question is that my wife is expecting a child in February 2010 and however my case will be processed by end of this year. Should I intimate the CIC about my wife that she is expecting a child or not?

As i read in this forum that in this case they will delay the case till child birth.

Thanks in advance.

@fmahmud

Hi, I'm also in the same situation. My wife & I will also be expecting our first child in March 2010. Instructions for our medical examination were sent to us last August 2009. We completed our medical last September and paid for the RPRF. My wife's OB-GYN allowed her to complete the medical examination.

Last week, I received a phone call from the Visa Office asking us if we can land in Canada before her childbirth if ever our visa be approved this coming December. I preferred to land in Canada after my wife's childbirth. In my case, I was advised by the Visa Office to inform them after the birth of my child so they may send to me the additional requirements/medical pertaining to the additional family member.

CIC has not rules for it. I read it in the medical journal when I used to do research on the immigration process.

Since there is no proven medical risk, CIC gives the choice to do X-Rays to the applicant.

Hello everyone in this thread.

I got my medical request and rprf yesterday. I am the primary applicant and I am 4 months pregnant.

Aanbaan and Seniors: What is the procedure? Will the doc allow me to take medicals ? I am not sure if I can travel before the birth of my child. So what is your suggestion? What steps do I need to take. Some people are saying that the medic will suggest only some tests and pass the report to CIC saying that I am pregnant. CIC will process it and process my PR and I can add my child later as a dependant.

But some are saying , inform CIC and dont take medicals, wait till birth of child and then take action. Not sure if CIC will give me that amount of time...

Some are suggesting that you can take medics.. but they wont do some tests like xray etc which will be done only after the birth of the child and the childs application needs to be added only then and PR processed later..

Which is the correct version . Any suggestions are most welcome.

Thanks
Jenny

@ jenny.can

I think the crucial part in a medical examination for a pregnant woman is the chest x-ray, as the radiation may affect the baby in the womb. In my wife's case, we consulted with her OB-GYN. Her OB-GYN allowed her to undergo chest x-ray provided that she will be wearing a lead apron to protect the baby from the radiation.

You can also opt to take the chest x-ray after giving birth. In such case, the clinic staff will still do the other tests and send the results to CIC indicating that you will undergo the chest x-ray after giving birth.

Hi,
I sent my full docs to vo and waiting for medical requests. Now my wife is pregnant .
Is it essential to notify the vo about my wife's pregnancey at this time or wait for the med req?
If the vo provide the med req in the meantime will it possible for my wife to take med examination?
If the doctor report to the vo office about my wife's pregnancy, will they delay or hold my case until the bith of the child.

Please reply
