Hi my husband is in Ireland waiting and CIC london is requesting his finger prints

Why? And can he just go to the police station and get it?

He isn't a criminal but has been arrested never went to jail no charges or criminal record. Thanks!

I can't speak for the UK, but here in the US, if you're ever fingerprinted when you're arrested, the FBI will have that on file. So if he was arrested, his fingerprints may be on file, raising a flag. Has he ever spent time in Canada? If so, then maybe thats why they are requesting his prints, to see if he has a record on file in Canada.

Yup he got the arrest in Canada but he doesn't have a record or anything never did jail time. I don't think its a red flag... The email said they just need legit copies because I think my husband sent photocopied prints instead.

He's in Ireland and not in Canada. How can he get those finger prints? Can the police station in his city in Ireland just request it from Canada? I'm not sure of the FBI thing is relevant because he isn't american and never got into trouble in America.

He can go to his local police station and ask them to do it for him . Even though he sent the copies that he had from Canada the VO i think is trying to make sure that they have the right person. They have most likely run his name through the database and it has come up with a hit, therefore they are asking for new ones to be sure they have the correct person.

I'm pretty sure they need the actual prints and not copies as the copies aren't as accurate. When I did mine, the station ( though also in the US) had their own cards to use and wouldn't use anything else.

His local police station in Ireland can only give him 'Ink rolled' fingerprints. Is this acceptable to send to CIC London?

if the request doesn't specifically ask for live scan, then yes, ink rolled will be accepted. read the requet carefully.

Hi rhcohen2014,

Here is what the email I got from London CIC said.

In order to continue processing your application, we require the additional documents listed below. Please send clear legible photocopies rather than the original documents unless otherwise specified. If the documents are not written in either English or French, please enclose a certified translation with a photocopy of the original document.
RCMP- Fingerprints. (See link below)
http://www.cic.gc.ca/search-recherche/index-eng.aspx?query=RCMP fingerprints&s=0&l=e&search=basic
Please forward all requested documents together to the address below within 60 days from the date of this email. If we do not hear from you within that period, your application will be assessed on the basis of the information on file and your application may be refused. Please allow four months for us to review incoming correspondence....
The link they sent is broken and does not help so much when pasted back together as it only brings me to a search engine on the CIC website. I want and need to be 100% sure, as I can feel we are near the end of the whole process.

Thanks
