It depends on what you are looking for. Condos will generally be cheaper and allow you to avoid the hassles and costs of snow removal, gardening, security systems, etc. Houses will provide you with more space and privacy, and will allow your children to have room to play (indoors and out).

Walls are notoriously thin in condos, and you can hear your neighbors on all sides. That said, the same applies for townhomes as well. Again, it comes down to your budget and personal preferences.

Certain condo buildings cater to different demographics (i.e., elderly couples without young kids, young professionals, college students, families, etc.). It is critical to visit the building and see what sort of neighbors you will have prior to moving in.

A condo is an apartment on steroids: namely (though not always): laundry facility inside the unit, air conditioning, security personnel, car parking spot....

Condos on the other hand are owner owned and has many recreational facilities and all applicances inside the unit itself

No, you are wrong. Apartments can be bought as well and managed by owner whether it is a person or company. Look at multi-family in the commercial properties section in realtor.ca for available listings.
