When does the sponsored applicant receive notification?

Hello all,

My spouse who is sponsoring me has received an email with a pdf stating that she is approved as a sponsor.

However ecas has not updated any information using the case id and spouse information.

Till now as the sponsored applicant, I have not receive any notification yet. So when does the the sponsored application starts receiving notifications from CIC regarding any updates to the application?

I would still require to submit a police certificate with the request of CIC. Will they be informing me by email or letter? (I have gave my email address in the application)

Hey,

it depends on your VO.

Ecas usually takes a few days to update, and then you should be able to log with either the file number + applicant info (you), or the UCI + sponsor info.

Some VO will send an AOR to let the applicant know that the file has arrived. Some don't. Some VO have a very long timeline, and it might be a year before you hear anything. Some others have a short timeline, and are good at updating people... where is your application going to?

Most VO use email communication, but it's not always a guarantee...

The visa office will communicate with the applicant after sponsorship approval, but they will not keep you updated of their every move on a regular basis. You will only hear from them in two situations: 1- They require more documentation or updated information, pending fees, and/or call you for an interview, usually within the first two or three months at the VO; 2- When requesting the applicant's passport to issue the visa which in most offices happens towards the end of the process, on average about 5 to 10 months, again depending on which visa office your file is at.

It would help us help you to know which Visa office you applied to in order to provide you with more pointed guidance.

As for E-cas, you can use your sponsor's data to login but it'll be more informative to use the applicant's info to log in to see the progress of the application on the applicant's side. Keep in mind, that ecas may not be updated regularly so don't rely on it too much. Just sit tight and allow the process follow its course.

ecas is available for sponsor and applicant as well? as the applicant, i have not received any information to log into ecas except using the sponsor details..

Yes ecas is used for both parties; however, it is not always updated right away. For example I am sponsoring my husband and my side of ecas was showing (sponsor uses their name, DOB, country and UCI number) for a few days before I could log in and view my husband's info. (he is the applicant)

The applicant (you) will use your name, DOB, country and the application file number which is different than the UCI number. Ecas usually updates every Tuesday morning so if not this week you should be able to see your side next Tuesday, try after 10:00 a.m. (Cdn. time). Blessings.

I just checked with my name, dob, country and application file number and I saw the status.
But how did you guys know that you can use these to check the status? So far only my sponsor has received the information of logging into ecas.

Without you telling me, I don't even know it works for the applicant as well. :|

In the letter that was received(sponsorship approval) there were 2 numbers given. The UCI is for your sponsor, the application number is for the applicant. I only knew about ECAS via this forum. Same goes for what information goes with what number ect.

that's why the information on the forum is useful...
for me, I tried with first UCI + Sponsor, and it worked. Then I tried File number (as ecas gives you that possibility...), and sponsor, no success... File number + applicant - it worked! so I kept at that... learning by doing!

Singapore indeed has a very long timeline, but quite a few cases get done before. However, they probably won't open your file for quite a while, so don't obsess over ecas - it won't change for months and months, and most likely won't tell you anything... If Singapore wants to communicate with you, they will, and not through ecas...

;D I know, right? Thank goodness for this forum and the resourceful people on it that are willing to share their experiences. We all benefit at some point from each other's knowledge as CIC is not always clear and/or consistent with their procceses. The best thing here is the "comrades in arms" support we give and receive to each other as we all go through this (often difficult) journey. Now the hardest part begins, the waiting........so be prepared and take Sweden's wise advice.

Singapore VO does send AOR when they receive your file
