Hello everyone,

in 2015 i applied for an open work permit and spousal sponsorship inland.

The work permit got accepted and the spousal sponsorship is still in process.

I need to extend my open work permit cause it will end in july 2016.

I am on the cic website and i am confused as to what to answer to a few questions, but mainly:

First of all they ask my what i would like to do in canada so i answered ''work''
how long would u like to stay, i answered temporarily more than 6 months.
What is your immigration status in canada? This is the question i dont know the answer to, worker or temporary resident permit holder? What is your status when you applied for SP and OWP?? I dont know what its called.

Then, i get all of the following questions:

Have you been told by a Citizenship and Immigration Canada office that you are approved in principle for permanent residence in Canada?

I dont think so?? Is acceptance to an OWP something?

And if i have a written job offer, no because in my OWP when they asked me that i said any job and it got accepted.

So the way i answered it it says We used your answers to see if you may qualify for any of Canada's primary immigration programs. Based on your answers, it appears that you are not eligible to immigrate to Canada at this time under a federal program.

What to do? :(

some info: I came to Quebec august 2014 with just my dutch passport that has a visa included, i lengtened my stay as a visitor and it got accepted, after that i applied for spousal sponsorship and owp of which the latter got accepted and the first is in process, when i did that i also applied for an extra visitor extension incase something would go wrong.

Thanks in advance!

You are a worker.

Fill out the IMM5710, write a cover letter, pay the fees and mail it to Vegreville.

As you only applied a year ago, I doubt you have AIP yet. This means that you can't apply online.

You need to mail the app in.

You can't apply until you have your new passport.

well ive been told you can but only untill the date that the passport will still be valid. So i made an appointment the 26th to go make a new dutch passport in ottawa dutch embassy. My only worry is, will there still be enough time left to then send my work permit extension form because i read something about there atleast being 3 months before work permit expires? It expires 12th of july.... after the 26th this month it will take 3 weeks untill i will have my new passport so only then can i send my work permit forms.. thanks in advance

If you apply with the same passport, CIC will return the app and tell you to apply when you have a new passport.

Don't know where you read 3 months. You can apply to extend your OWP up until it expires. There is no rush.
