Hey.
ive been curious about this

what does the visa office check first when they get your application

is it the relationship evidence first. than if that passes they go ahead with background checks and medicals and such.
or is the medicals and backgrounds first than relationship.

does anyone know this?
or is it different for every VO??

thanks :)

okay.
but what happens if your medical is expired by the time the VO recieves it.
like for example

my case our medical expired in march 2012, and our application was transfered to our VO april 5, 2012.
and we didnt hear anything for 4 months.
this week we received an email asking for a new medical to be completed..

does this mean they had our file for 4 months and didnt do anything with it ??

No, they don't get a file and sit on it for four months.

Each file received must be entered into the VOs GCMS system. This is basically information on the forms being carried over to create the electronic file.

There is an initial review of the file, where whatever is submitted is checked and evaluated. That may be why you have been asked to submit a new medical, because you don't currently have a valid medical on file.

Each applicant passes through 4 basic checks: Eligibility, Criminality, Security and Medical. All of these must be passed for a positive selection decision (a visa can be issued). How long these take to be completed depends entirely on the individual's history and background and the relationship to their sponsor.

Eligibility might be one of the first checks done. If the relationship is deemed genuine, the applicant can be passed to the next phases. If the relationship is not deemed genuine, they do not always continue processing, but may pass the applicant to the interview queue so they can decide if they should continue processing.

Look at it this way. Maybe you've been really fortunate and processed quickly and the reason they want a new medical is so they can proceed to issuing your visa! :)

thanks CharlieD! i was hoping for this answer!. :)
i hope they did some processing. i dont think we will need an interview for the relationship, because we sent more than enough evidence, *fingers crosses* but maybe an interview for something else i dunno.
but hopefully after we send in the new medical it will go quickly with everything else

thanks again! :)
