So, let's see how long will it take.

Called CIC today, waited 15minutes to get to an agent. Stupid f*cker once again refused to log in to my profile to check my status. Claims that even though I am past the 83 processing day mark since I landed, she has to add another 2 weeks to the processing time so she can only log into my profile to check after 83 + 14 days.

WHAT THE F*CKING F*CK IS WRONG WITH THESE LAZY PEOPLE.

IS IT SO PAINFUL TO GET MY UCI NUMBER AND LOG IN TO MY PROFILE.

WHAT THE F*CK ARE THEY DOING THEN, JUST ANSWERING CALLS AND READING SCRIPTED LINES.

That's very unusual to have e-CAS tracking. You are quite lucky.
PR card status on E-CAS was when I noticed the current home address was updated to my address in Canada and I scrolled till the end of the page and noticed there is another section with PR card status.

Also another conclusion this might incur is that current home address might only change once cic start working with our PR card printing or mailing, i guess.

That's strange. Mine was also past 83 processing days. Took me 12 minutes to reach an agent. She was extremely polite and I told her straight away that I called to enquire about my PR card's status and this is my first PR card as I am a new Permanent Resident. First, she checked the 83 days time by asking about landing date (mine is 87th day today) and then asked for my UCI, with all the usual security questions, she looked into my file. After putting me on hold for a minute, she told me that cards have been mailed. Even right now, my ECAS is not updated.

It shouldn't be an issue for CIC to log in and check status of file. It seems like there is some misinformation spread internally by CIC staff, or a curious case of under-trained staff.

Here's how my conversation went.

Me: Hi I want to check my PR card status. I landed on 16 April and it has already past the 83 processing days.

Agent: You have to add 2 weeks to the 83 days, hence call back again on XX July (forgot the day but it was 83+14 days after my landing date) to check with us if you don't receive your card then.

Me: Can you log in my profile to check? I can give you my UCI number now.

Agent: Sorry, I am not allowed to. I can only check after XX July (i.e. 83+14 days after).

Me: Ok bye. *hangs up immediately - no point wasting my breath with stupid lazy F*CKERS - not the first time I got through to an agent like that too *

By the way, the agent I spoke to is named TIFFANY. So warning to everyone out there, if you get an agent named Tiffany, she's a lazy as* bit*h and be prepared to get scripted responses.

Anyway I almost feel that I have to lie and give some bogus landing date, say 100 days ago, then they will actually log in to my profile to check for me.

Hey guys,

Apologies if this question has been asked already, but has anyone driven from the USA to Canada in a rental car without a PR card with no problems?

I know the website says:
If you return in a private vehicle, like your own car

If you return to Canada in a private vehicle, such as your own car, you do not need a PR card. You can use your Record of Landing (IMM 1000) or Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM 5292 or IMM 5688) instead
.

... but does this mean a rental car falls under private vehicle?

Let me put it this way ... even if you own a private jet , you can land without a valid PR Card. Even if your friend is driving his own car, it is not a commercial vehicle.

A commercial vehicle is a vehicle which is used for carrying goods or fare-paying passengers. Private and rented vehicles can be used for crossing borders. The restriction of PR card in commercial vehicles is a restriction imposed by commercial vehicle companies itself. They won't let you board since you failed to produce valid travel document. In your private (or rented) vehicle, no one's going to ask anything. CIC always state that you need to check with your respective carrier what documents are required.

Called again, got connected to Mark. Instantaneously checked my profile for me using UCI number. So my card has been put to production today but not mailed out yet. Don't know what that means but finally after 80+ days of waiting, some movement! Entire call took 5 mins, whilst the first call with that idiot Tiffany took 10mins. Goes to show that it'll be a lot faster if the agent just take your UCI number and log in your profile to give you an update rather than give excuses to brush off your requests.

And again this is proof that the agents you get when you call is like playing the jackpot. If you're unlucky, you'll get some dumbas* agent who refuses to log in to your profile.

Well, I never thought things in Canada would be like this, but these things happen everywhere. Moral of the story : When it comes to CIC, never keep your expectations high.

& congrats for the good news. It would take a week for your card to be mailed. I got mine mailed today.

You should have insisted on talking to the supervisor of the mofo

Sweet, congrats to you too! Guess I will receive my card next week since I landed exactly a week after you did.

Lol, I'd rather save time and energy by hanging up and calling back again in hopes that I get a more competent agent (which I did). So once again, if you get Tiffany, hang up immediately!
