Waiting for PPR after Medicals - Add your case here

Thanks all. It indeed was an agonizing wait. Not knowing whats going on.
Planning to send our passports to CIC next week. Here's my timeline so far.


Application RECIEVED : 11-MAY-2012
A.O.R. : 27-AUG-2012
MEDICAL REQUEST : 29-OCT-2012
MEDICALS DONE : 05-NOV-2012
MEDICALS SENT : 10-NOV-2012

I landed about 2 weeks ago... however, I just received an email from CIC with my previously requested GCMS notes. I would like to highlight the importance of requesting these notes early in your application process (I suggest within 5 months of submitting your file to CIC). I found a particular disconcerting issue during the very beginning of my application: CIC claims they sent me a medical request in April 2012 - which I NEVER received! This could have potentially impacted the processing of my application....

Additionally, the GCMS notes are extremely informative to review and give you an inside look at the process the CIC uses to review Permanent Residency applications; very interesting!

In short, REQUEST YOUR GCMS! As applicants, we should be proactive (things are always missed due to the sheer volume of files CIC has to process) and review our GCMS notes. If there an issue is uncovered (i.e.: not receiving the medical request in April 2012), you have the ability to email CIC and possibly speed up the process. I could have potentially eliminated months of waiting!

...And you think, I just kept waiting without contacting the CIC ?
Had the GCMS at 3 different times. Contacted CIC with those info. Luckily, this time around the person who received my email was a nice one. Cause, she didnt just reply, but she reached me on my phone and talked!!! She too was surprised tha they havent send me the PP Request.

Thankk God, I got my PPR. Hoping everything to be smooth and fast from now on.

When did you do your medicals? It seemed to be in August. PPR normally comes one to two months after that (although it varies considerably).

Is that advanced medical? Since they just started processing your application in August, it will still take one to two months for the next step. You can order GCMS notes to see what's happening in your application, but it will take one month to arrive. Link for GCMS notes: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/

I got my medical request on August 17th. The doctor sent them on August 29th and they received it on the 30th.

I have received my passport request 13 days later
