I could not find topic about this, if there is please just point it out and i will delete this :) or if there is info at cic.gc.ca but i missed it!

I came to Canada oct 2009, as a visitor. Stayed under visitor visa til april 2011 when i became pr. Are these days somewhat count towards my citizenship.
I used the calculator from CIC and didn`t use the visitor days, it says i meet the basic residence requirements. so this means i can apply right. but its only 3 years since i became pr...i am just wondering that i am not applying too early...

thank you for your help :p

Under the current citizenship 3 / 4 year qualification, you can use the time prior to your landing as PR as visitor towards Canadian citizenship residency qualification, as half days. So you can only claim up to a max of 2 years prior to PR landing towards qualification since you must be PR for 2 years at a minimum before you can qualify.

so i am good to go!
for some reason i thought that only if you have been under work permit or study before pr status, you can use that. Great that visitor can be used as well!

Thanks

until and unless the new law is implemented, you may count everyday before PR as 1/2 day and you can only count upto ONE year BEFORE your PR status... If you stayed for two years without exiting Canada, you may count one year for that (max).. you cannot count more than one year for your prior to PR days....

You can confusing the OP about counting up to ONE year BEFORE pr status towards citizenship. Are you saying you can only claim only up to 1 year of residency towards citizenship or 1 year of physically in Canada before PR. There is a difference. There is a 2 years of physical presence in Canada max allowable prior to PR landing that you can count towards Citizenship residency qualification. 2 years of physical presence in Canada before PR counts as 1 year residency towards Canadian citizenship. You combine that with 2 years as PR to total 3 years out of 4 year qualification to apply for citizenship.
