Hi Atul,

Congratulations!!! Can you please share your overall experience, your background, how you did your filing and if you had any interviews how they were, wat kind of paper work was required etc (specifically the notarised stuff, bank papers, medical and police clearance etc). This will be a great help for new guys like me as I'm planning to apply on my own based on canadian immigration website and experience of people like you who have been through all of it. Well, as for me I'm based in TX, Houston but I'm from India.

Thanks & Regards,
AP

Hi AP,
Though I have gone thru a lawyer but nothing could be better then CIC website there is information which even some of the immigration lawyers are not aware of. You check your visa office, mine was London. Also check the processing time of your visa office, because you may be called for interview so in case you are not there in Houston for a long period. Rest all, like interview, language test and medicals they will intimate you in writing. I was interviewed in Abu Dhabi- carry all the documents your education certificates, xerox copy of the application, marriage certificate if applicable, its a routine inquiry just to ensure that you actually meet the required points and can settle down well in Canada. Language test -if your educational background is in English then it will not be a problem for you. For guidance there are good websites or you can visit the nearest British council library. Medicals- its CIC approved doctors job and they send the report directly to concerned visa office. Overall its not a very complicated process except the intial filling of forms. You also have to obtain Police clearance certificates from countries where you have stayed for more then 06 months. The details of the issuing authority are there on the CIC website. Hope the information is sufficient. Best of luck.

Hello Atul,

Great? I do hope my story ends up the same as yours. As for me, I applied for Toronto, Ontario under PR Federal class skilled worker category as IT specialist in July 2004 by myself without any lawyer's help. Phew, it's been a long wait and I bet am as old as you are ... I've also waited for 2 and a half back-aching years, hope its worth??...

I' recently (May 2007) got a letter from Commission in Nairobi requesting for my medicals, ROLF and P/P ... and fulfilled their requests in June 2007. Still waiting for a response from the embassy. Am I in the same boat as you were, ready to get the sailing just as you are?

Hey please let me know.

Lunch will be on me when I pass by at Vancouver if we meet ...

best o' luck pal!
