Hello everyone! I got my COPR in the mail yesterday!!! (It was sent to my US address) I will be landing Sunday November 29th (I'm currently up in Canada with my husband and won't be going back to the states until November 21st, didn't think it would happen this quickly). I hope all of you hear something very soon.

Here's my timeline:

AOR: February 10th 2015
SA: April 10th
RPRF/Intent email: July 30th
IP: September 21st (eCAS said it went IP April 15th)
DM: October 13th
COPR: dated October 9th, received it in the mail October 22nd
Meds and FBI all done upfront

Thanks for the detailed information. My fiance is American and she is planning to apply once we get married. I was curious what office you applied to?

American applications will almost always go to Ottawa. The CIC in Mississauga decides where applications go, but nearly all who are US Outland will go to Ottawa now. The turnaround time for Ottawa is 6-12 months. :)

That is great news!!! Getting ready to send our application in now as we received FBI clearance. Does the medical need to be completed and sent with the initial application?

Anyone know the "ideal time" to send in an application? I hear Ottawa goes faster in the summer, is that true?

The medical doesn't have to be sent with the application, but most of us would recommend it to avoid any potential delays. Congrats on getting near the finish line!

Realistically, any time there are holidays, there's a chance that things slow down. That being said, I personally wouldn't wait to submit an application. By the time summer comes around, an application submitted in the Fall/Winter would already be approved, and waiting to submit at a later date has no advantage. The "delay" would be weeks at max—essentially however many days CIC employees would take off for the holidays. I don't think there's any hard evidence to prove that applications submitted in the summer are approved faster, however; it's anecdotal. ;)

Depending on what you are applying for now medical is required to be submitted with your application or it will be sent back...with that being said at this point in time, with a family application, you can do the medical upfront or wait for instructions...things change month to month with CIC so I recommend you send it with the application...If anything is missing CIC will send you a request for info and once the info is submitted they have 30 to 90 days to review it....

Planning for May 14
Hey guys, I have a question.

I'm moving into a new apartment that has a laundry room and next weekend my husband and I are going to be organizing our storage unit in Detroit. I would like to bring our washer and dryer back with us after the fact so that I can put them to use. They've been stored for almost five years now because when my husband moved closer to the border so we could visit more often, he didn't have any room for them.

At this point, I don't really mind paying the duties and taxes on them, I'm just not sure how to go about it. Does anyone have any idea how I could go about this?

How old are they? Do you have the receipts for them? Without receipts it'll be tough to deal with the border.

Do any of you have experience with applying for school after you've landed? I want to go back to school and it seems I need a WES or ICAS report to assess my credits first since my education is "international" pfft, but the reports are like $250-300!! Don't have that money to drop right now :/

I haven't landed yet, but I had an ICAS assessment done last summer. I went through St. Lawrence College here in Kingston, so it only cost me $40. The results can only be seen/used by St. Lawrence though. If you have already narrowed it down to one college or university in particular, they may offer you a deal like that. Good luck! The educational system here has been extremely frustrating for me.
