urgent problem regarding passport ...genuine advise plz

i am going for medical day after tomorrow...

my passport validity is feb 2013.

while appling for PCC, passport authorities told me that my passport is not fit for the visa stamping therefore i need to have a re-issue

i have 2 options

1. continue with this only....if it will be unfit for visa...it will be returned for resubmittion.

2. apply for re-issue...it will take about 15 days as i need NOC from govt Institution under TAKKAl

whereas my case is already late..as i got my missing letter of Jan 2012 in june itself (upon request from embassy) and i should not risk delay in submission. what i feel is that they cant refuse for unfit passport (passport is fine but there is some lamination problem and few stain spots on it) though it is valid today...

My appointment of medical is on 16th. i cant have new passport before 15 days...can i apply after medical but in that case medical will refer to old passport

Dear Raj,
I am sure there wont be any issue. If you passport is less then a year of validity, you can always apply for new one. At the same time, you will also receive the old cancelled one along with new one. so you can carry on medical with old one and as soon as possible get renew ur passport. mind one thing well, that even if you will go with an agent for for passport, it may take more than 15 days sometimes. I mean they say you will receive it in 15 days. however, not always possible.

Hi Raj,

I am relatively a new member of this forum, but have had the same issue.

When I received the request for my Medicals, I had to apply for a passport of my new baby born and my wife's pp was expiring in 3 months.

So What I did was that I finished my medicals and got the new passport in the meanwhile.

Luckily what happened was, that I sent the updated passport copies for all the members of my family and told them that my wife's passport is expiring in three months therefore a new one is being sent, together with a copy of the old one.

The same day Medical Aiuthorities sent my Medicals to them.

The next thing I received was the request for the passports.

If you act in advance to furnish the documents and keep them informed, it is taken postively. Please follow the same pattern that I did.

I have already got request for Passports & medicals

In your case problem was near expiry date..in my case it is a damaged passport.

May i know why the medical authorities kept the medicals with them....??

Raj, the other issue you may face is that you have to enter Canada BEFORE the medicals are 1 year old or BEFORE the EXPIRY date of your passport (or anyone travelling with you). February 2013 doesn't give you much leeway, so you have two good reasons to get a new passport. Good luck on the medicals.

There is no problem at all. Go for your medicals and when u are required to submit passport for visa issuance send new one. I have also done the same way. cheer up
