You must have a valid passport to come to Canada. If your passport expires within 6 months from the day you apply, you should renew it. Then, when you get your new passport, update your passport information in your application. This will ensure it's valid when we process your application, and avoid additional delays.Feb 24, 2022

6 months for application, they are mixing information

The Canadian government requires that most visitors have a valid passport that is at least six months old at the time of entry. This means that if your passport expires in three months, you will not be allowed to enter Canada. Jun 20, 2023

Canada will let them in. However, what the airline believes is the rule may be different. In theory the airline can look it up or inquire through their immigration channels - but not all airlines are equally assiduous about this or competent.
