Hello, I got my Citizenship in December 2021 and got my Canadian PP in January 2022. However, i did not provided that information to Service Canada. I just applied for a new job this week and provided them my existing SIN. They informed me that my SIN is expired. Now, i don't think the SIN that you have after receiving PR expires. So, i applied for updating the status on SIN just now. My current employer never got flagged and i also just filled my taxes successfully with the current SIN.

Could this lead to any trouble?
Thanks

SIN will remain the same unless one becomes a permanent resident, in which case they have to apply for a new SIN (which doesn't start with the number '9'). This updated SIN, received after becoming PR, does not expire, and does not need to be updated after becoming a citizen.
Have you spoken to someone at Service Canada?

They just informed me now, I'll get in touch with Service Canada on Monday.
