TWP Application in Process. Passport Nearing Expiry

Guys,

I applied for my work permit online on 12 Oct 13.

I travel quite frequently on business and I hardly have any pages left on my passport. I have been advised that there is no choice but to apply for a new passport.

I will have a new passport issued while my work permit is under process. Will this affect my work permit processing? Do I need to inform CIC or do I just submit my new passport when CIC makes a request for my passport?

Please advise.

Hi,

Your work permit will be issued till the validity of your current passport, a copy of which you must have submitted online while applying for work permit.

You can always extend the validity of the work permit once you have the new passport based on the duration of your job contract & the LMO.

Hello Michael

I believe your current passport is running out of pages rather than nearing expiry, when you apply for TWP, I believe you must have a minimum of 6 months validity. Hence, if you are running out of pages, I believe you could have your passport re-issued with additional pages and you should not have any problems with that.

I probably didn't explain myself properly.

They won't be able to issue me with a TRV/ work permit because by the time the work permit is approved in the Canadian Consulate, I believe my passport will be left with no pages although passport is valid till 2020.

And for my country of nationality, they will not attach additional pages to the passport, but will issue a new passport with a new passport number. I've already had this confirmed.

What do I do here?
