TRV vs Open work permit

I am an international student and I was wondering should I put in for a TVR for my husband when I am applying for my student visa or apply for an open work permit for him. Which way is better.

TRV and OWP are two different things.

You need a TRV to enter Canada if you hold a passport from a country that requires a TRV.

A work permit is the document you will need after you enter Canada to be eligible to work.

You actually need both.
