TRV renewal shorter than study permit

My friend renewed both her study permit and TRV recently. Her study permit renewed for 16 months but her when she applied for a TRV via an agent, she got a letter (Visitor Record) saying she got approved for 6 months of visit visa.
The visa number starts with V and didn't get any passport request, just a letter.

Is this the standard process? How can she extend the TRV to match the study permit?

I think your friend applied for a visitor record (which was not needed at all) instead of TRV. Ask your friend what form she filled while applying. It should be imm5257 for trv.

Thanks for the response. She did it through an agent. We suspect agent did a mistake. But trying to confirm that.
