Guys, any idea on this matter?
Im yet to apply for my child's passport.
Does the child need a passport when travelling within Canada by plane? I've read in the US that passport isn't necessary for citizens traveling inter state, please correct me if im wrong. Not sure if same rules applies here in Canada.

Thanks.

A passport is not needed for travel within Canada. However, you will need one or more of the following depending on your situation (from Air Canada's website http://www.aircanada.com/en/travelinfo/before/youngtravellers/infant-child.html)

The following documents are recommended for travel within Canada and may also be required for international travel to/from certain countries.

The child’s birth certificate showing the names of both parents.
Any legal documents pertaining to custody.
A parental consent letter authorizing travel (if the child is travelling with one parent, the letter must be signed and dated by the other parent; if the child is travelling without his parents, the letter must be signed and dated by both parents.)
A death certificate if one of the parents is deceased
