Hi,

I am Permanent Resident. I am planning to travel by air to India and return 5 days prior to my PR card expiry.

Will I be encountering any issues
a) while boarding returning flight at India to Canada
b) immigration desk at Canada upon entry

Can there be any other issues?

FYI - I have already applied from my PR card renewal via normal processing. I heard that applying for PR Card renewal via urgent processing is a hazzle and has lot of uncertainties involved.

Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge in this regard.

Regards,
Diwakar

Do you have over 730 days in Canada in the past 5 years before your PR card expires? If so then you should be fine.

Keesio, Thanks. I do have more than 730 days in Canada in the past 5 years prior to my card expiry. Do you think I will asked to furnish proof during my entry to Canada (though my card is valid for another 5 days)?

Normally no you wont have to show proof but you definitely need to carry one. Take few of the documents you sent to show proof of meeting residency obligations when you sent your application for PR renewal, such as employment or school records.

My brother's PR card got expired last month and he arrived in Canada just 5 days before expiry of his PR card. No questions asked. No problem encountered.

P.S : He has been in Canada for more than 730 days.
