Hello, I'm wondering if the Carta de Antecedentes Registrales (Federal Police Records) from Mexico needs to be translated in order to send it to the canadian embassy.

For the record I've already read in other places that it's not necessary unless they ask you to translate them, but I don't wanna take that chance. Does anybody know for sure? Can you point me to the right webpage?

Hi jendrian!

It doesn't need to be translated. The embassy just asked me for mine and my parents are dropping it off at the Embassy fresh from the PGR.
There was no requirement to be translated on the letter that they sent me along the request for the Carta.

one more question they also asked me for a state (Jalisco) police record, I don't think it needs to be translated as well but does it?

State Police Certificates are supposed to be submitted with the initial application, and they do need to be translated by a certified person.

Did they just ask you for it? If your letter asks to submit the Jalisco police record only without a translation I would just do that.

I couldn't submit those (I had to get 2 but getting these was unavailable for me until now), the letter doesn't say anything at all about translations, it says:

"Please submit:

- Carta de Antecedentes Registrales
- Constancia de No Antecendentes Penales (Jalisco)

[...]"

Etc etc, it's the same letter you got only instead of just the Federal police records it has a second bullet asking for the jalisco ones

I would just bring them without the translations then. If you're in the process of getting them you might receive an answer from them, so you could also try asking them:

already sent a letter (today), the requests were processed yesterday so I'm hoping it arrives soon, thanks also for the reassurance of the federal police record :)
