Hi,

Does anyone has an idea about the current timeline of CPC Vegreville. We applied in June under Sposnorship - Common-Law.. They started PR process on July, 5th. Than nothing happened till September 3rd. The message on eCase said suddenly:" We received on September 3rd .....something like that. What does this message mean? Or is it just nothing? Can we expect soon (round about one month later) the OWP?
We haven t used any laywer. Our case seems to be straighforward. And they confirmed after we called that our documentation is in a perfect proper order.

So probably they used the first 2 months for the sponsorship application in Missisauga and now they will start the process for the PR application. Inland right now takes 6 months for first stage approval and work permit (if you applied for one) but the final processing can take longer. You can see on http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/canada/process-in.asp#sponsorship that they are now processing applications received until March 16.

But they started the process of PR on July 5th, 2008. And a PR can't start without that the sponsorship is approved? And 2 month later, on September 3rd, they confirmed that they have received all requested documents. And as mentioned in a phone call with CIC they said they are already on a background check. ANd other blogs saying that the process is down to 4-5month for the first step. The home page is just average. BUt can someone confirm that he had experience if they issued round about one month later the OWP after the eCase showed that they received all documents.

Inland applications never go to Mississauga. Right now the inland processing timelines to first stage approval - if the file stays at the Case Processing Center in Vegreville and doesn't get transferred to a local office - is 6 months. You won't hear anything from them until notification about first stage approval.

Jeremy - you're confusing the outland process with the inland process. With the outland process, the case goes to the Case Processing Center in Mississauga first, and they assess the sponsorship within about 45 days. If the sponsor is found eligible, they notify the sponsor of approval and of transfer of the file to the overseas visa office for assessment of the applicant, and finalization. The inland process happens entirely within Canada. It starts out at the Case Processing Center in Vegreville, and may stay there until a final decision is made if there is no interview required and no complications with the file. It is very difficult to know exactly when the sponsor is assessed with an inland ap because there is no separate notification. Sponsorship approval is part of the first stage of assessment. The July 5th date you're seeing is simply the date they opened your application and verified that all required information is there. Had it not been, they would have sent the application back to you at that point. Once they verify that the application is complete, it goes into a queue behind all the other aps. The link posted Leon posted is correct - Vegreville is currently assessing applications for first stage approval that were received up to March 16th. Yours won't be up for at least 6 more weeks. At that point you will receive notification about first stage approval, and an Open Work Permit if you included that application with your inland ap. It then takes between 6-12 months to finalize the application and issue PR.
