there are two SLEC to choose from, one is in Ermita and the other one is the extension clinic in Global City Taguig. if you will ask my opinion, it is better to go to Taguig extension, because they are not accomodating US applicants there. Meaning, it is not congested in Taguig compared to Ermita.


if you dont like to go to SLEC, you can also choose IOM, i think that is in Makati.

In regards to airfare, I am still looking into it. Are you heading to Winnipeg? I am planning to buy a ticket to Vancouver only because my friend will get me a flight from Vancouver to Winnipeg separately. But the price for Vancouver to Winnipeg is ranging around CAD$300 (one way).

For the flight from Manila to Vancouver, at the moment am leaning towards PAL with the cost of USD$715 (tax, airport tax and travel insurance included already, original price $668 - only with tax). I was given an offer of USD$638 for Cathay-Air Canada - stopover in HK with a layover in HK of 12 hours (only with tax). The 12hrs layover put me off, that I wasn't keen on doing that for the difference of USD$30.

My problem was that I can't book online with PAL, it wasn't accepting my UK card (2x) already. So, I will try to go PAL office and see if prices are similar online and will try my card again. Otherwise, it's cash payment. So, I am still looking into other travel agencies. But I think if you got Philippine bank cards, you won't get any problems booking online.

There are also promotional flights at PAL, just around USD$500, be careful in booking that, it only has 1 pc of luggage. If you only need 1 then that is very convenient. A blog will come up for this soon, first, I need to get myself a ticket.

Yes. We're heading to Winnipeg. Though it's still too early, i'm now looking into direct flight to vancouver and according to my sisters in canada its only PAL that offers such. We need direct flight kasi we're travelling with and infant and a toddler. It would be difficult for us if we have numerous stop overs and if we miss a connecting flight. Will wait for your blog about this thank you for making it easier for newbies like us. We learn so much from your experience maraming salamat!

1. No need for the old passports . But you need to safekeep it , It might come in handy in the long run.

2. im sure they are checking it and it is a part of their document review. whether they check it or not, you have to provide accurate travel history.

may tanong po ako, nag punta kami nang DHL office kahapon para mag send nah nang application to CIO, pero kaylangan daw nang contact person. they wont send it without that info daw po. ano or sino po yung ilalagay as contact person? thank you so much po

Thanks, I already bought a ticket. I just wanted to have a direct flight and avoid missing a connecting flight. So, I booked PAL instead. ;D ;D ;D

In my case, I was under a strict diet because I was ill at that time (gall bladder stones).

It was quite helpful though, less salt, less oily/greasy food, no desserts/ sweets and 1 cup of rice (per meal).
