Hi,

See this: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/provincial/apply-how.asp

You must pay your processing fees (a) in Canadian dollars. The easiest way to do so is online.

hi ragluf,

sorry to butt in. i'd like to ask since my credit card is in peso, when I pay online does it only follow the conversion rates or I need to allocate more for the payment?

thank you po.

Hi cebugirl!

Credit card issuer usually uses higher conversion rates than the market. But as soon as you charged your credit card and it went through (meaning the payment was approved by the credit card issuer), usually, there will be no additional charges after that.

What you seem to be thinking of trying is to pay the Php (peso) equivalent of the processing fee. Have you tried to login to the online system for payment first and see how it is done?

When you pay via credit card, regardless of where your credit card is issued, to CIO/Receiver General for Canada you will be charged $550 and not the equivalent in peso or any other foreign currency.

When you get your bill, that $550 charge may be converted into the equivalent of peso plus any additional due to currency conversion rates at the time the processing fee was charged to your credit card account. CIO/Receiver General for Canada will not care about that amount reflected on your bill. :). To them, $550 has been paid.

oh yes ragluf... she might be thinking paying in peso instead of CAD550...

ragluf, I have my own concern about my application... appreciate if you could help me on it...

Assuming CIO forwarded my application to Manila, will I be required to have my medical in Manila or could I have my medical done in another country?

Will there be any problem if my family will do their medical in the Philippines and I in another country?

Did my medicals today at SLEC, 17 December 2013

It was not as fast as other's experience. Maybe because I arrived at 9.40am, or perhaps so many people are trying to complete their medicals before the holiday season.

By the way, for those who are trying to book in April 2014, I asked my aunt (as she co-owns a travel agency) about cost of flights around that time and she gave me the cheapest quote of CAD$1,012 one way (inclusive of tax), MANILA-VANCOUVER-WINNIPEG (Cathay Pacific-Air Canada - Air Canada) with an allowance of 2 (23 kgs) bags/ passenger. That's quite a good price, right?

She also told me she will also look into the PAL promo for first time immigrants if there are anytime soon. As she thinks it will be cheaper than her quote.

@those done their medicals at SLEC: How many days did you wait until you called SLEC for a follow-up? And how many days until you had your DM and PPR? Been looking into the timeline spreadsheets but they are not that up to date yet.

@ragluf: SLEC didn't bother looking into my xray prints and results that I have brought with me, although they took copies of my medical/ surgery history. Thanks again for your advice.

Also, I plan to send CEM an email that I have completed my medicals after I follow up from SLEC. I should attach a copy of the medical examination receipt, right?

TIA, guys. ;D ;D ;D

thanks ragluf! this is very helpful as I am trying to budget everything. I'll try paying online and revert to this forum regarding my experience.

to those who paid via credit card, i'd like to ask how was it?

thank you!
