thanks! :) hope your PR comes very soon.

I have moved you up because the spreadsheet is organised depending on when the sponsor approval was received, so we have an idea if London works on the applications based on received dates or not (and the answer is... more or less, yes and no! :) )
you're now in row 74, in lilac color because you sent the application in June, and in order of sponsorship approval (more or less - few people on the spreadsheet are not in order, but I'll try and sort it out later on!).
Sweden
Great! Thanks for that. It's a very strange process, there doesn't always seem to be any particular way they process the applications as they certainly don't seem to be done in order!

So, I just checked an email our lawyer has sent us a few weeks back (Nov 13th)
She sent us screenshots of ecas (its different to what I see when I log on, broken down into the two stages).
It has my name under sponsored person - under Sponsorship Application it says decision made (Aug 27th, app rec June 20th) - under Permanent Residence Application Status it says Application Received (medical results have been received).

So I'm presuming this means the application has been received in London.
:) :)
Yes - that's probably a safe bet. If the medicals have been matched with your application and you can log into ecas, then your file is most likely in London! :)

Good luck - hopefully you'll hear soon!

No - definitely not! well it was kind of in order at the beginning of the year, and then it all went strange! that's why the spreadsheet is useful - and with the different colors it becomes even more apparent that even if people apply at the exact same time, the waiting can vary a lot... might be linked to the type of files, how complicated the application is, but also just CIC being quite disorganised (in the first stage, the sponsorship approval is normally pretty standard.... but even there CIC messes up - right from the start! :) )
Makes for a colorful and animated spreadsheet....

It sure does! I'm hoping because a lawyer completed our application and we included absolutely everything imaginable, that our application will be gotten through quickly! Probably wishful thinking :)
I wonder if there is a slow down around Christmas time but maybe there could be a push before then?! I think we like to imagine all scenarios and pray they are true :p

Hi, I have a question. I am currently living in Vancouver, awaiting Stage 2 approval of my spousal sponsorship. I was issued a 6 month visitor record as I am from England, which is due to expire in two weeks. I have just noticed on the cic website that to apply to extend my record I needed to have done so 30 days before it expires, which has now past. Is it possible to visit the border to renew my visitors record (or flagpole and be re-issued a visitors record)? Or can I still technically apply online for an extension, even though it's less than 30 days until my current visitors record expires? I'm a little worried to be honest.

Hey James,

I have seen your question earlier, and I'm not completely sure how to answer.
I am pretty sure that you can go to the nearest border and ask for an another visitor record, there is always the risk of being denied entry, but in your case if you go there with the proofs of PR application (sponsorship letter approval for example), it should help - but no guarantee.
I'm not sure if you can still apply for an extension. I thought it was possible as long as you do before the expiry of your visa, but I didn't know about the 30 days rule - but I'm not an expert.

Try posting in the general thread, there are people more experienced than in the specific London thread and you might get a more detailed and precise answer.
Good luck,
Sweden

A complete application helps for sure. My PR was apparently approved the same day the file was open... so it might be the same for you - they open it, go through, issue the PR. Done!

Just had the BEST Skype conversation EVER as my husband held up his COPR!

FINALLY. Still not moving here until February 2013 but I'm heading to the UK in 2 short weeks to spend Xmas with him & his family.

I checked eCAS yesterday and it still said "In Process", this morning it has changed to "Decision Made".

Going to update the spreadsheet now!

Total processing time: 7 months & 3 days.

(PS For those of you whose medical has expired-- We had to go for an extension, his application started processing November 13th and it was shortly after that the caseworker applied for the extension. The extension is for a year.)

Hi James,

my boyfriend has had to renew his visitor visa several times over the past couple of years.

You can certainly do it online, he usually does it a couple of weeks before it is due to expire, then obviously you can stay in Canada while they process it. It is quite time consuming doing it online, scanning all the documents in etc (passport pages etc).

You can always flagpole too, and i'd say this would be your easiest option if you are close enough to the boarder. You'll save the $75 fee and once you explain you're just waiting for your COPR, 99% of the time its usually fine. Like Sweden said, nothing is guaranteed, but if they're going to deny you at the boarder, chances are theyre going to deny you if you apply online too anyway! They will likely just give you 6 months.

So either way is fine, just online can be a bit time consuming and obviously can save on the cost if you're close to the boarder. As long as you have it sent off before your current visa expires you're all good :)

okay what the!!!

So i emailed London a few weeks back asking that they had received our file... they emailed back the next morn and said yes its currently awaiting review.

Last week, my boyfriend emailed his MP in England and asked if he could be of any help as his visitor visa runs out soon blah blah blah (thats the short of it!) Yesterday we got an email from London stating they needed a couple of documents from us "to continue processing our application". Sent those off yesterday afternoon. Then got a letter to BF's house in England yesterday from the MP saying that immigration informed him that the application is due to be completed within a week, great news.

THEN, just now... my BF randomly got this:

Dear XXX,

Please be advised that your file is currently still in queue here in London to be reviewed by an Immigration Officer. Your file is not to far from the front and we hope to be able to provide you with more information just after the new year once your file has been reviewed.

We thank you for your patience.

My BF isnt too worried and seems to think its some kind of general email, but im kind of going mad now... yesterday we were told its in process!?? anyone ever had this happen, or any thoughts?? ???

Option A is to go to a border but, some of those guys at the borders are not very sympathetic. I had issues at the BC border once. He didn't extend my visa because he "didn't see the point".

Option B is to apply to RESTORE you visitor visa status. It's about $250 online. Same as extending except that you do this when your visa has expired.

Last year, I applied to extend my visa and they denied me because I forgot to send a copy of the stamp of my original arrival. So, I applied to restore it and they gave me 1 year!

You can apply for that now and you are allowed to stay in the country until you hear back from them which could take them a month or more.

:)

Very mixed messages! I hope the first one is correct and you will have decision made next week.
Good luck!
Try not to stress :) (I can say that, but I wouldn't be able to do it myself!)

Hi guys I'm new to here.

Sfeire your reply seems very similar to ours as we just got a email from our lawyer with the same information, and I logged in and checked the online status to see the same information...

Ok, just one be problem with my application which me and my wife are worried about. Is that 12 years ago when I was 18 I got a CR for theft which was under the value of $1000. I've been working in a special needs school for the government for the past 10 years. We have sent loads of references from mulitple head teachers etc.

Has anyone seen any similar case where they have got a approval even with a CR?

Thanks in advance guys...
