Just curious: Just how many of you are doing Common Law -- and how many of you have already done it and been approved? Seems like most everyone has already gotten married on paper rather than fact-based.

Ive emailed them thru every email possible numurous times and all I get is the computer generated answer we are processing your app no further info needed.But that wasnt true I had to send stuff to them last Nov. or so and wouldnt of known about it if it wasnt for my MP contacting them.Even when the MP contacts them they tell her we are doing the 2nd part of the background and everything else is done that was Jan 1st and still no answers.

I called the 800 number to CIC this morning. They can't find my medical in either name :'(
I have the letter from the DMP that says it was sent by UPS with my kids' so they told me to send LA a copy of that letter. I just sent it.
I am not a happy camper.

If you have a copy of that letter, try to scan it and email/fax them or upload via case specific enquiry too. Good luck!

I emailed it, but now I'm sending it through the CSE form as well. Maybe I'll fax it too. Ugh. I'm so torqued.

If it is passed 11month, I think you can keep bothering them through MP. I keep getting the same answer as you. (we are processing ...etc etc), and after couple computer generated answer...they stop responding my emails...

I was on there the other day actually. It's what prompted the call to RIV, because I could see on the system that there were no recalls, so I called to ask if I could just print that out. They didn't seem to want to say yes or no to that, so instead they told me not to worry about it until after the Carfax check was done. I'll call GM USA this afternoon and just request a recall clearance letter now that I know it should be free from them. This way I won't have to worry about it. Thanks!

Good to know. I'm calling first thing tomorrow and having the letter sent just in case I need it. Another random note to add though. I went to the border today to start the process to export my car (for those who don't recall, the border crossing near me claims you must bring your title 3 days in advance, and the car has to stay in the U.S. the entire time). The guy who handled it for me decided to waive the 3 days and stamp it right then, because it was an export for personal use and not commercial. If only I'd known that might happen I would have brought my B4 form with me to import it right away.

as long as everyone knows that this was a lucky case....they don't normally just stamp it...they were very clear to us about having to have the paperwork 72 hours before.....we had only had hours in for like 60 hours when we wanted to cross and they made us wait....also a reminder that the export office isnt open all the time like the border crossings are so keep that in mind ...we learned this all the hard way lol ....glad u didnt have to wait....
