They didn't accept my E4 lists because of no serial numbers for the electrical items however they said that they are 99% sure it will all be ok when I try to clear everything as long as everything I own looks more than 6 months old.

Vancouver customs are not open 24/7 unlike Gatwick/Heathrow so I had to go home with 6 boxes (300kg) at the cargo terminal still. I now have a 20 hour round trip back to Van to collect my stuff today (I'm assuming I can get an appointment with CBSA).

Just back - made it in 19 hours. CBSA ended up saying the IO was wrong to have not accepted my E4 on Friday. They stamped the exact same ones as I handed over and got handed back to me.

I suggest this be a warning to everyone. I have heard recently that sometimes Immi officers and CBSA officers do NOT know the rules yet will rigidly enforce their incorrect version. May well be worth thoroughly researching what we can do as PR first time entrants and even have a copy of the relevant Govt. info docs with us - better safe than sorry!

The warning should be more general. It's not just CIC/CBSA who fall foul to not having up to date legislation at their fingertips as I found out at a provincial access centre yesterday.

So...warning, everyone read the up to date laws of Canada for every public service and otherwise and be prepared to argue your case with whatever bureaucrat claims they are right when they are not.

This is obviously not very practical so your other option is to waste loads of time trying to get the right info off the right person and eventually getting what you want after paying more fees than you had to and gaining many a grey hair.

I chose the second option except I am now trying to see the funny side of it and hopefully I haven't got too many more grey hairs.

We got a request for additional documents February 28 and they were received by the London visa office 2 weeks later in mid-March. We heard nothing until early June when we finally got our PPR. So if you've been waiting a couple months don't despair, hopefully you'll get your PPR soon!

Hi guys! 1 month since I landed! Still waiting on my PR card. Feels weird not having to return to england anytime soon lol. I need to get a sin card and start looking for a job but ive been too lazy and needed a nice break after all the stresses of immigration lol.

I got decision made, passport required today in mail....so that means VISAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Can I ask? How long it takes since sending passport (gonna do it tomorrow) and can I start working two weeks after arriving as I already got job as well?

I have finally received PPR email and sent it by post yesterday, they received it today...now i deal with problem if I could leave country and go home beginning of august so by end of it I could be back. apparently it takes 6 weeks to get your passport back :-\
