Sparkle, Can you check if you can access eCas using PA's information and the receipt number?

I can access eCas using Sponsor information using Receipt number(as well as Client ID), but when I try to access PA's eCas, I can do it only using immigration file number.

No, actually I can't. Same as yours, I can access with sponsor's info and not PA's. The only way I can access ecas with PA's info is with his file number and his details. Could that mean I may have the same problem too ?

Not sure... But since you haven't heard anything yet, I would guess your receipt is in Buffalo. If you look at the IA's received in the last month (for the december group), it is only for people who they think did not pay the fees. So if they thought you did not pay the fees, you should have heard something by now. But thats just my guess.

Can anybody view eCas with receipt number and PA's information?

I just tried my receipt/PA info, and it doesn't work for me either... We paid all fees up front.

Sparkle,

I emailed Buffalo with a scanned copy of my Receipt, and they emailed me back saying they would forward it to the processing team. I also mailed a copy. I haven't heard anything since, and it has almost been two weeks. I called CIC, but they said they couldn't do anything for me. I think I might call back and talk to someone else... it looks as if that helped some people. I just hope this doesn't put me back another month or two!

I hope you hear some news soon spiritac...

I had the worst dream last night, where I see an email from Buffalo, and I get all excited, and it says that your application has been rejected !! For whatever reason ....

It made me realize how crazy I've become with this immigration thing and at the same time to know that things could get MUCH MUCH worse. I just hope whenever Buffalo completes our application...it's all good news!

Keep positive Sparkle. Everything is going to be. alright have Buffalo asked you for any missing information? If they have not and your file is being processed you are ok. They sent a letter asking for a police report for my wife from her home country and for us to pay the RPRF the police report was already sent to Mississauga but we had a copy so that was taken care of. I am currently in the States with my spouse so that when this is all through we will drive up to Buffalo and land.

Hi guys! How are things going? I'm sorry I have been so quiet, and for the lack of updates! I have been out of town visiting with my family, and haven't had internet access for a week. Tomorrow I fly back to Ontario. It's been good to visit my family, but it will be good to get home again!

I will catch up on the posts and post an update as soon as I am back and settled in again. It should be up tomorrow or Sunday.

I missed you guys!

I found this on another thread for skilled workers regarding in process posted by qorax. I can't vow for its accuracy, but it explained to me what in process is, and thought I would share it with members of the forum, particular december group as we have all been in process or started the process, and what this means. I hope this helps....

Background & Security Checks

Note: Our Background Check comprises of 2 parts:
1. The Standard Documentation Checks,
2. The Security & Criminality Checks.

Standard Documentation Checks:
Our background check is done at the CHC stage. It commences the moment our file gets the 1st BFD by the VO. An indicator of which is the e-CAS that shows "In Progress". All docs been checked & our NOC being tallied against the MI, if the VO finds our case 'eligible' for Canadian PR, the file becomes 'Accepted'; and then it goes for standard background checks, viz. Exp, Quals, Adaptability, Qualitative Considerations etc.

The process involves many things. If our case file is well presented and the enclosures vouch the quality-quantity, adequate POF docs etc., there might not be a requirement of 'actually' calling the employers, references etc. The VOs have a way with that, they are experienced enough to ascertain the logical disposition of our case. But, if there are any concerns of his/her, s/he is likely to ask for additional docs, do further scrutiny vide any means [calling, visiting etc.] & might ask for an Interview.

-Culmination: When 'fully' satisfied, we get the 'Medical Request'.
-Timeframe: Can be anything around 3-8* months, for the 'fast track' system (Avg. 4-5 months).
-eCAS: Continues to Show 'In Process'.
*The older system has a queue, thus can be longer.

Security & Criminality Checks:
A part of the b/ground checks is the 'Security Check'. It commences after our med results are submitted to the CHC. This is a major activity -mainly concerning our 'safe inclusion' into the Canadian Soil; vis-a-vis, Political, Socio-Econmical, Anti-Social disposition, perceived Threat to Canada's integrity etc. This gets us the SDEC, CDEC & SECCRIM.

This is a serious & time-consuming stage, involving many agencies, including CSIS, Interpol, NASC, Database Checking & touch-base with Local Police. Many things are considered here... the No. of countries visited, Applicant coming from 'certain' countries, ex-Servicemen [including Law Enforcement services], Prolonged stay in a country w/out sufficient docs to prove cause, frequent traveling to certain nations, your *Name (?), Inter-Religion/Nationality Marriages etc.

If everything is simple & straight, the file soon gets into the 'final review' stage. If there are any 'red flags', our case goes into a 'spin'. Then our file might go to the local Police/CID agencies; the outcome/timeframe of which is beyond the control of CIC. And thereby the timeframe can be anything [sometimes beyond 1yr]. But, usually this stage should be over by 5 months max. However, a point to be noted is that we can also be called for an Interview [at this stage], due to this reason.

-Culmination: Only upon security clearance we receive the PPR.
-Timeframe: Around 2-6 months. Avg. 3 months. [With new system, sometimes PPR is clubbed with Meds]
-eCAS: Still 'In Process', but 'Med Results Recd.' inside.

*Yes, that's how a certain Mr. Sharukh Khan was detained for 4.5 hrs in an US port. He was a VIP, thus 4.5 hrs. For u & me -things could be different.
...
The Process in a Nutshell:

Stage-1: [CIO stage] Send Initial Apps+Processing Fees to CIO-NS > Qualitative Check > Issue of AOR+120 days Letter >

Stage-2: [CHC stage onwards] Send Full Docs+RPRF to the Local Visa Office > File on Queue > e-Cas: "Received by Visa Office" > Eligibility Check+PSDEC > Issue of 2nd AOR > Background Check > Issue of Additional docs Request [if any] > 1st BF'D > e-Cas: "In Process" > Send Addnl. Docs > Issue of Med Request > 2nd BF'D >

Stage-3: Meds Sent > e-Cas: "Medical Results Recd." > Issue of PPR* > Send Passport/s > Security Check > Visa/s Stamped > e-Cas: "Decision Made" >
*The Meds & PPR are sometimes 'clubbed' together.

Stage-4: Return of 'Stamped' Passport/s+COPR > Landing at the POE > e-Cas: "Completed".

Let me preface this by saying that I am not an immigration expert, and just a member like everyone here, but I found this helpful to me during this silence of not knowing what they are doing, and thought I would share what I learned from skilled workers from another thread. I can't vow for its authenticity, but background checks are required for all applicants, and I can't imagine that this part of the application would be any different. This is cut and paste from a number of different messages, but I thought it was helpful to me so I thought I would share. At least this way we know/think that there is stuff going on behind the surface, and this is what some of the the stuff looks like. So "In Process" means all this stuff is happening....

So if you were to get CAIPS notes from what I have read it would come back in the beginning with the following:

PSDEC 0
BDEC 0
OREQ 0
SELDEC 0
MEDDEC 0
FINDEC 0

However, "in process" would mean that background security checks have started. 'In Process' is an e-Cas status - which isn't updated/in sync with the VO's actions. It's maintained by a separate cell of the CIC & there'd be admin delays. From reading that thread, it appears that background, security checks can take 5-6 months from time of processing. I don't know whether they do things differently for family class vs. skilled workers.

If PSDEC and SELDEC are 1 on the same date, that means that has been assessed & found to be eligible for PR processing. Therefore, paper screening decision(PSDEC) and t-12 selection decision(seldec). For all of us in family class, this starts when in process starts. Now we just have to make sure that MEDEC - medicals received, and then there is BDEC which is done by the cic(I believe) for background check. OREQ which appears to be another type of security decision but stands for other requirements. SDEC which is the security decisions involving CSIS and CDEC which is the criminality decisions. Finally, it goes to FDEC which is final decision. And most of us here from what I understand will have PSDEC and SELDEC. From other posts, it appears that security checks take the time....

1. B/ground checks r done by the CIC alone, with the help of the 'local' VO staff.
2. For Security Checks - the help of CSIS is obtained.

The security checks procedure/timeframe/severity cannot be assessed as a basic standard. Much depends on the candidate's background, nationality, travel patterns, NASC database search, CSIS opinions, etc. Thus, no 2 cases could be same - even under similar timelines/conformity of Canadian residence.

So I guess, important timelines are when you started in process, and then count 3-5 months at least from that point. In December, because of computer problems, in process started later for our group. Other groups were using faster intake systems it appears from sparkle's worksheet. This should help give us some type of timeline, and background. I found this info helpful for explaining what the ..... is going on, and why my stuff seems to be delayed, and what to expect.

BTW - As I was trying to figure out what is going on with me, and what I should do, I read there were multiple consultants who said that you should NOT email them more than every 3-4 weeks, and if you look at the buffalo thread, there was someone in the beginning that emailed them constantly and her application was seriously delayed. Although, they claimed it was due to security check, and just before this person was to hire a lawyer they gave her the PPR.

Thanks for posting Avon I found that very helpful. It certainly explains the process and why some filers get thru faster than some because every case is looked at on individual merit and basis

Wow. Well, I'm safely back in Canada! I don't have my PR card yet, but I didn't have any trouble coming through the airport. The immigration officer asked if I had my PR card, and I told her no, but that I did have my COPR. She asked when I landed, and when she saw how recent it was she was fine with letting me go through with just my passport and the COPR.

I just read through all the posts since the last update, and I'm sad to see we've only had one update! Congrats to you, Gally! I am anxious for more news for everyone. I want to spend a lot of time updating the table with a lot of good news!

Here it is for the last two weeks. Let me know if I have missed anything, or if I can update/change anything.
