Hello guys,

On Feb 25 (Monday), I am going to write a citizenship test at Calgary. I have a question about the english language proof. When I submitted my application last year, I added a copy of transcript from Canadian College.

Citizenship Test Instructions mentioned that on test day, please bring original documents (listed in document checklist) to support your application. One of these documents is proof of english language requirement. Currently, I don;t have original transcript (from Canadian College) because I submitted it with my original application.

I am confused now. What should I take it with me as a english proof ? I have Diploma Certificate from Canadian College. Can I bring it instead of the transcript ?

I am really worried ! Please advise or share similar experience.

You should have only submitted a copy.
Anyway, not an issue. Bring what you have. The diploma does the job and if you get asked, just explain your situation.
Also, there's a very high chance you don't get asked about that proof if you actually have no trouble discussing with the citizenship agent. The interview is partly a language test, and the strongest proof

Language ability is tested in oral conversation with the processing agent or official conducting the PI Interview (interview attendant test).

Documents showing language ability are required submissions with the application itself, to meet IRCC requirements for what constitutes a complete application. Applicants who received AOR have met this requirement.

It clearly appears this procedure (required document proof with application itself) was implemented due to previous high rate of applicants failing to demonstrate language ability at the time of the test/interview, to reduce the number of unqualified applicants being processed, especially since these applicants had to be scheduled for a retest and failing that then an in-person hearing with a Citizenship Judge. The latter was subsequently eliminated (Harper era changes implemented 2014) but replaced by an interview with a Citizenship Officer (if the applicant fails the oral language ability screening in the PI Interview).

Still bring what you believe are appropriate documents, as best you can, pursuant to the notice instructions (always follow the instructions as best as you can), but it is highly unlikely that you will need to show documents regarding language ability since, again, you will be tested for language ability as an inherent part of the interview (scores of forum participants refer to some casual chat with the interviewer, without recognizing that is deliberate, that is testing for ability in one of the official languages).
