Hi, I have some problems in tax return, could anyone advise? Thanks in advance.

I and my wife have short landed in Canada during 2016 and then we went back to Hong Kong, but we just recently relocated to Canada in 2018. We have not stayed in Canada during 2016 to 2018, I would like to know if (1) I need to pay the tax for the year 2016 to 2018 for my Hong Kong job? (2) can a permanent resident declare a non tax resident?

As long as you just did a soft landing and have not left family in Canada, purchased a house, etc. you don't have to file taxes for that period. Sounds like you may need to file for the 2018 year but might want to use an accountant that specializes in filing taxes based on your time in HK and Canada in 2018.
