Tax Filing - Zero Income - Eligibility

Hi everyone.

I landed in Canada in Dec'17. Despite short stay (less than a month) and Zero income, I filed for taxes for 2017. I landed a job in 2018 and have been filing taxes since then. I would like to know whether I am eligible for citizenship i.e. whether the 2017 filing be considered as valid or should I file taxes for 2020 and then submit my application.

Seeking advice from members who faced the same situation.

Thank you.

2017 filing is very much valid. I had the same $0 filing for 2017.
No need to wait for 2020 filing as long as you have completed 1095 days in Canada.

I concur. It's all about residency, not income. File your application ASAP and get that one-year clock ticking.
