Hello,

I know the Ministère de l'Immigration, de la Diversité et de l'Inclusion offers both part-time and full-time French course to residents. Has anybody here taken any of those here in Quebec?

I went to one of their language school centers in Montreal, as I hold a PGWP and work in the province, and decided to sign up for that.
They told me only CSQ holders can sign up for those. I have already applied for one, but it might as well take forever for my application to go through. Does anybody know if it is possible to take these courses while your CSQ application is being processed?

Anyway, only offering to CSQ holders makes no sense to me, it is kind of a "chicken and egg problem" here.

MIDI offer free french courses for newly settled immigrants and sometimes they offer financial aid too (which depends on your status). My children have taken these french courses and they only get CA$30 per week because of my status as an economic migrant. If your status is refugee, you would get around $700 or more in a month.

As far as I know, you cannot enroll there until your CSQ is processed. Rather than going there, why don't you get enrolled in private french courses? You have YMCA, CSDM, EC Montreal, GEOS Language PLUS, CLC Montreal, The French School, YES Montreal, Concordia University, McGill University and ILSC Education Group. You can decide which one would be suitable by exploring these options. Don't wait for MIDI. Equip yourself quickly and start your life.

Thanks for the suggestion.

The thing is that by going to a private school, I'll end up paying for the course twice.
I already work, and consequently pay my taxes here in Quebec, which is not cheap. I don't understand why I don't have the right to take a course that in technically already paying anyway.
