Surrender of PR - Goods to follow

Hi,

I am planning to surrender my PR as the principal applicant, as I most likely will be unable to meet the RO obligation.

My family has no plans to return back & will continue to reside in Canada.

I would like to ship to Canada all items as mentioned on my "Goods to follow list" (declared under my name as principal applicant) to my family in Canada.
Will I be able to go ahead with the shipment i.e exempt from customs (even if I surrender my PR) or would I be required to pay Customs duty on the shipment?

Thanks

Hi

I just received my goods to follow. I went to Customs Canada and gave them the documents forwarded to me by the shipper. They asked to see receipts for the items, stamped my COPR on the reverse...out in 5 minutes. No Charge.

The items in your list belong to the family so I think it should not be an issue and of course it depends of the inventory. Just bring all the documents for your family too just to be on the safe side.

Good Luck
