Hello,

I would please like to know what is the start date of the 5 year period of which I would need to spend 730 days in Canada for me to maintain my PR status. Is it the day of the landing? Or is it the date the PR card is valid from?

Also, any advice on how to prove physical presence in Canada while not working there? I would like to have ideas that really show my presence (I will really travel there!) and that cannot be questioned. For example, even if I show my credit card statements, the officer might suspect that someone else was using it. Is there a surefire way theough which I can prove my presence?

Thanks a lot!

I will answer tge first question in that for the first 5 years you must spend at least 730 days in Canada from date of landing, the dates on the PR card are irrelevant for residency obligation. After the first 5 years the residency obligation becomes a 'rolling' 5 years where you need to meet the 730 days.
