If someone is married and is applying for PR then he/ she should have spouse name on Passport. Marriage farud cases CIC they dont like it.
It costs just Rs 300 and 1-2 days work at passport office.
Travelling on non immigrant visa - visitor visa then it may have or may not have.

You are right!!

I got it done yesterday, thought it is handwritten and stamped but not printed. I guess should not be a problem.

Many thanks!

GUR2010,
You can get it done in any passport office.

However, it is not mandatory to add your spouse name in your passport. My wife and I got the visas and both our passports do not have each others name under 'Spouse name'.

You can apply for Canada PR without Spouse name on passport or even without spouse passport. But after applying, you should apply for your spouse passport or add spouse names in both the husband- wife's passport.

you can not travel on passport without having spouse names in passport.

But are you sure that you would be allowed to travel and enter canada without each other's names on passports ?

I have been in and out of Canada many times and they do not look if your spouse name is listed in your passport.

Hey, I got this done from the same RPO, Delhi. But I'd suggest you to inquire the RPO where you are planning to apply for spouse name addition.

Regards'

Steve,
That is not the case. CHC will give visa even if your spouse name is not in your passport. My wife and I got our visa and the spouse name column in our passports is blank. Both of us have travelled in and out of Canada many times without any problems.
I also know a few friends who have not added their spouse names in the passport.
It is upto you to add your spouse name. But it is not a CHC requirement.

Dears,

I have a question, my name is added on my wife passport in the spouse section as it was issued after our marriage but mine doesn't reflect her's as it was issued just few months before my marriage.

Will it be ok if either name is mentioned in the spouse section?
if not, then can Indian Embassy issue a letter stating that?
