Great to see that many of you have finally pushed through!

I have a question - has anyone ever moved province during the process? Husband got an offer to work in Montreal (he got his PR when living in Montreal years back). We are currently in BC. I called Quebec Immigration and they said that I would need to get the CSQ once SA is out. I wanted to know what the experience has been for anyone who's done it. If it's too complicated for the PR process, he may just decline the offer (although very lucrative).

Also wanted to share for those wondering if they can go to the US during the application - I successfully crossed the border to the US and back to Canada using Multiple Entry Visa + OWP. No weird questions asked. Not sure if it's non-US destinations though!

You can move, sure. Just notify CIC. If he is moving to Quebec, until your PR is complete, you will need a CSQ. After your PR is complete, then you do not require a CSQ. It takes something like a month, but sylvain1 would probably know better on timing.

MTL is close to the border with Ontario ~40km, if memory serves?. One possible option, is to move to Ontario temporarily, until your PR is finished. This might be worth while to consider, if your PR is almost complete....

My son father name is not on his birth certificate for personal reasons. Does anyone have sample or a idea of how the letter of explanation should be written.

Notarizing a letter from the PA isn't required.

Simple letter stating that the reason why your son's father is not listed on his birth certificate is because <xxxxx_you_fill_in_here_xxxxx>. Sign and date.

As to PGP draw -- Mother-In-Law et al would not be moving to Canadia. They have grandkids there, my wife's brother still lives there with his family, babushka is still there, etc. She has a MEV good for 10 yrs, so she thought that was more than enough. When we have kids, she wouldn't be coming for more than 6 months. "My workplace would forget who I was!" is what she remarked after I mentioned the Super Wisa idea...

I am a Feb 2016 applicant. Apart from a medical request on 10 March 2017, nothing has happened for our application. No SA/AIP/DM etc. Today, we received a long letter beginning with "It has been determined that you meet the eligibility requirements to apply for permanent residence as a member of the spouse or common-law partner in Canada class". However, there is nothing exciting in the letter, at all. Just general information. Has anybody got something like that. Should we expect some speedup? Or, that means, we are way back and should forget PR card before summer?

yes from the MIDI website, they are back to 25 working days for CSQ in the spousal sponsorship category, so 5 weeks.

But the first step would be to advise CIC first when they will move, as the sponsor and PA need a letter from CIC requiring them to apply for the undertaking engagement + CSQ. The fees would now be 277$ for the undertaking/CSQ application
