I am filling out a sponsorship application and they are asking for the birth date of my ex-wife, but I do not remember it, I am not in contact with her, and nobody I know is either. What am I supposed to do?

Either leave it blank and incldue a letter of explanation, or put some date (ideally as close as you can recall) and letter of explanation.

Her birth date should be listed on your divorce paperwork. Check there.

It kinda' depends on the retained "paperwork". It should be there if he retained the divorce petition, etc. In my case, all I have retained is the Certificate of Divorce (and I only obtained that because needed by the IRCC). I also kept a copy of the Final Order. Neither have any birth dates.

Makes sense. I think it also depends on the country in that case. My husband's US one had birth dates listed on everything.

And that makes sense too. I was thinking of Canadian divorce documents. But, for sure, other countries won't all be the same, just as you point out with your husband's U.S. documents. And, we don't know the OP's country of divorce, so even if he has only limited paperwork, the birth date might well appear there.
