Sponsor leaving Canada for a year or more

Hello,

My husband has sponsored me and my kid and we became a PR in 2019. He is a PR since 2018. We are all living in Canada right now. He wants to move back to his home country for a year or more. My kid and I will be staying in Canada. I wanted to know if we can stay in Canada without the sponsor living in Canada. Does anybody know of the legalities?

You're a PR, your status in Canada no longer has anything to do with him.

He can leave but he remains a tax resident.

Yes. His family is living in Canada and using services. There may be a tax treaty between his home country and Canada.
