sponsership break down help

Hello new here and asking on behalf of my son his dad sponsored him into canada and relations have broken down my son worked for his dad too so hes lost his job and home and he does not no what to do, ive spoken to his dad but he said we split 10yr ago so you and your son can work it out your selfs as im not intrested, sadly when i was married to him he left my son and i in canada many years ago, its like history repeating it self, i live back in the uk now, hope this makes sense

So what exactly is your question?

If your son was sponsored and became a Permanent Resident, then he is still a PR despite his relationship with his dad. He can choose to stay in Canada as a PR on his own, or return back to UK. Choice is really up to him.

Just note he needs to maintain the residency obligation (spend 2 of every 5 years in Canada) if he wants to keep his PR status.

1. Does your son have his PR status?
2. How old was your son when he was sponsored, and how old is he now?
